Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent a cold quenching crack even in the high strength steel pipe by making a strength grade of a cellulose-based electrode used for root pass welding lower than a base metal strength grade and performing hot pass welding following root pass welding by a low hydrogen type electrode.
CONSTITUTION: A sound back bead is obtained by using the cellulose-based electrode for root pass welding. In addition, the cold quenching crack sensibility is remarkably improved even in the case of the high strength steel pipe with the X80 grade by making the electrode strength grade lower than the base metal strength grade and besides, performing hot pass welding by the low hydrogen type electrode.
