Abstract

PURPOSE: To immediately decide a fault occurred at an information processor during application of a shared storage and to enable another information processor to easily use the shared storage by providing a fault detecting part to the shared storage together with a connection control part provided to the information processor.
CONSTITUTION: A fault detecting part 31 is provided to a shared storage 30 to detects the faults of the information processors 10 and 20 connected to the storage 30. The confirmation signals are sent to the processors 10 and 20 to confirm the presence or absence of the fault at a prescribed time interval. Then the faults are detected based on the presence or absence of the answer signals received against the confirmation signals. At the same time, the signals are transmitted to the processors 10 and 20 so that both processors are separated from the storage 30. Thus the processors 10 and 20 are separated from the storage 30. In such a constitution, a faulty information processor connected to the storage 30 is immediately separated from the storage 30. Thus other nondefective information processors can easily use the storage 30.
