Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve charge/discharge cycle characteristic so as to obtain a battery of long life by replacing partly manganese with a specific element, respectively belonging to a periodic table 6A group and 2A group, and using a Mn-Li system compound consisting of these combined oxide.
CONSTITUTION: Manganese partly of manganese oxide, consisting of an Mn-Li system compound, is replaced with combined oxide of different kinds of elements of at least one kind element oxide selected from Mo, W belonging to group 6a in the periodic table and at least one kind element oxide selected from Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba belonging to group 2A in the periodic table. As a result, ternary combined oxide, consisting of, for instance, Mn-Mo-Mg, is combined, and further an Mn-Li system compound, containing LiOH.H2O, takes a crystal structure, easy to diffuse a lithium ion, and a stable crystal structure without being easily destructed even for repetition of charge/discharge cycles. In this way, even in the case of a wide range of charge/discharge voltage, stable charge/discharge characteristic is shown to enable a cycle life to extend.
