Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a sufficient display voltage at the time of the largest contrast by providing a switching means which short-circuits both ends of a voltage drop means when detectintg a specified contrast being the largest contrast.
CONSTITUTION: A maximum contrast detecting means which detects the maxi mum contrast being specified according to contrast control signals C1 - C4 is composed of an AND gate G1 and the switching means which short-circuits all resistances R1 - R4 at the time of the largest contrast is composed of a NOT gate I0 and an analog switch S0. Consequently, a voltage drop from a source voltage Vcc to a display voltage VDP is a voltage drop by the ON resistance of only one switch S0 and becomes less than a voltage drop by the ON resistances of four elements which are analog switches S1 - S4 of an LCD contrast setting circuit. Consequently, the voltage loss at the time of the largest contrast becomes small and even when the source voltage Vcc drops, the display voltage VDP which is sufficient is obtained.
