【表】DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION The present invention provides a method for making plastic materials or products.
The present invention relates to a new and useful surface modification method, and more specifically, to a coating material that contains a specific polyfunctional urethane compound and an ester compound as essential components, and which can be crosslinked and cured by irradiation with energy rays. The present invention relates to a modification method comprising using. In addition to the physical properties of plastics such as moldability and impact resistance, plastic products are lightweight and inexpensive, and are used in various industrial fields to take advantage of these advantages. For example, optical products include plastic glass, chandeliers, lighting fixture covers, and optical lenses; electrical appliances and appliance-related cabinets and case covers; and signboards and decorative products. ing. However, not only thermoplastics such as polyethylene, polypropylene, polystyrene, polycarbonate, polymethyl methacrylate or polyvinyl chloride, but also thermosetting resins such as epoxy resins, phenolic resins, melamine resins or alkyd resins , generally,
Plastic products are easily scratched during processing and transportation, and plastic products can easily become dirty during use.
There is an inconvenience that the product may be scratched when wiping off the dirt, making it impossible to satisfactorily fulfill its original purpose and function. Therefore, in order to prevent such troubles, methods have been used to impart surface hardness and high scratch resistance to the surface of plastic materials that can withstand external factors. One method is to apply and harden a melamine-based coating material, which can increase the surface hardness, but it requires heat treatment and the baking conditions affect the heat resistance and deformation temperature of the material. In some cases, it was difficult to use it, and the surface scratch resistance was not sufficient. On the other hand, although silicone-based coating materials provide good scratch resistance, they require heating and drying, and the coating lacks transparency unless humidity conditions are strictly controlled. There are also problems in terms of adhesion to the material, which tends to cause cracks and peeling, and has the disadvantage of requiring a "two-coat system" to prevent this. On the other hand, a method has been proposed in which the surface can be treated without damaging the material by coating and curing a photocurable resin that does not require heat treatment, but it is difficult to improve the scratch resistance of the plastic. Even in terms of applied surface processing and adhesion, it is still insufficient. However, the present inventors have conducted intensive studies on methods to further improve the surface hardness, scratch resistance, etc. of plastic materials or products, and have developed a method that meets these objectives. By discovering this, we have completed the present invention. That is, the present invention uses a polyisocyanate curing agent having three or more active isocyanate groups in one molecule, which has already been used for urethane paints, and an unsaturated compound containing a hydroxyl group. A polyfunctional unsaturated urethane compound A obtained by the reaction, and a polyfunctional ester compound B having three or more acryloyloxy groups and/or a methacryloyloxy group per molecule. This plastic material is cured by applying a so-called photocurable paint based on a curable composition consisting of The object of the present invention is to provide a surface modification method that can provide a surface that has good adhesion to materials such as abrasive materials and has excellent scratch resistance. The method of the present invention mainly uses polymethyl methacrylate,
The purpose is to modify the surface of plastic molded products manufactured from polystyrene, polycarbonate, polyallyl glycol dicarbonate, ABS resin, hard polyvinyl chloride cellulose acetate, etc., but melamine, which is a typical thermosetting resin, Of course, it can also be applied to surface modification of decorative plywood obtained from resins, phenolic resins, unsaturated polyester resins, etc. The polymerizable polyfunctional urethane compound as one essential component constituting the above-mentioned curable resin composition used in carrying out the method of the present invention is a polyisocyanate containing three or more active isocyanate groups in one molecule. Polyfunctional urethane (meth) obtained by reacting a compound with an unsaturated compound containing a hydroxyl group
This refers to acrylate A, and examples of polyisocyanate compounds containing three or more active isocyanate groups in one molecule include tolylene diisocyanate, hexamethylene diisocyanate, and xylene diisocyanate, which are generally used as curing agents for urethane paints. or polyol adducts such as lysine diisocyanate,
It is possible to use polyisocyanate compounds such as multimers, mainly trimers, containing the Biuret structure or isocyanuric core structure of these isocyanates. Among these, polyol adduct type polyisocyanates can also be produced by reacting a diisocyanate with 1/2 equivalent of a hydroxyl group-containing monomer to form a semi-urethane, and then reacting this with a polyol. However, in such a case, in the step of obtaining a semi-urethanized product, 10 to 25% by weight of a diurethanized product in which both isocyanate groups of the diisocyanate are urethanized is produced. This diurethane compound is not preferable in terms of achieving coating film performance. Therefore, by reacting an excess of diisocyanate with a polyol and distilling the unreacted diisocyanate,
Alternatively, it is preferable to obtain the polyfunctional unsaturated urethane compound A by reacting a so-called polyisocyanate curing agent, which has been removed by a method such as solvent extraction, with a monohydroxyl group-containing compound. Diisocyanate trimers can also be produced by heating and reacting only diisocyanate in the presence of an amine catalyst or tin catalyst such as 1,8-diazabicyclo(5,4,0)undecene-7 or diptyltin oxide. You can get it. Furthermore, the Biuret form of diisocyanate can be obtained by reacting excess diisocyanate via a urea bond based on the initiation reaction with water. It is preferable to use commercially available polyisocyanate curing agents for urethane paints as these polyisocyanates. Examples of such commercial products include “Burnock D-750;
D-802, DN-950” (products of Dainippon Ink & Chemicals Co., Ltd.; “Dismodule L-75, N-75,
"FL, IL, HL" (all products of Bayer, West Germany); "Coronate L-75, 2030, 2031, HL"
(Nippon Polyurethane Industries Co., Ltd. product); or “Takenate D-102, D-202, D-204, D-
110N, D-160N” (Takeda Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd.)
products), etc. On the other hand, typical examples of the aforementioned hydroxyl group-containing unsaturated compounds include β-hydroxyethyl (meth)
Acrylate, β-hydroxypropyl (meth)
Acrylates, 1,6-hexane glycol mono(meth)acrylate, neobentyl glycol mono(meth) obtained by partial esterification of polyhydric alcohol and (meth)acrylic acid
acrylate, 1,4-butanediol mono(meth)acrylate, trimethylolpropane di(meth)acrylate or pentaerythritol tri(meth)acrylate, as well as butyl glycidyl ether, versatate cricidyl ester or phenyl glycidyl ether. and acrylic acid. To explain the method of the present invention in more detail, the above-mentioned hydroxyl-containing unsaturated compound is gradually added dropwise to a polyisocyanate compound maintained at a temperature of 30 to 90°C, or by charging in portions. , a polymerizable polyfunctional urethane compound A can be provided as a result of the reaction between a hydroxyl group and an isocyanate group. For this urethane compound, a known amine-based or tin-based urethanization catalyst such as triethylamine, tributylamine, dibutyltin dilaurylate, or dibutyltin diacetate can be used, if necessary. The above-mentioned polyfunctional ester B having three or more (meth)acryloyloxy groups in one molecule to be combined with the polyfunctional urethane (meth)acrylate A obtained in this way includes trimethylolpropane, pentaerythritol, By a condensation reaction between a polyhydric alcohol represented by pentaglycerol, dipentaerythritol, glycerin or diglycerin, or a derivative thereof, and an unsaturated monohydrochloric acid such as acrylic acid or methacrylic acid or an acid chloride thereof. The amount of these esters B used is
The ratio is preferably such that the equivalent weight per polymerizable (meth)acryloyloxy group in the ester B is 120 or less. If this equivalent exceeds 120, the degree of crosslinking will be reduced, making it impossible to obtain sufficient surface properties. Here, representative examples of the polyfunctional ester B mentioned above include trimethylolpropane tri(meth)acrylate, pentaerythritol tri(meth)acrylate, pentaerythritol tetra(meth)acrylate, dipentaerythritol tri(meth)acrylate, Dipentaerythritol tetra(meth)acrylate, dipentaerythritol penta(meth)acrylate or dipentaerythritol hexa(meth)acrylate, all of which are preferred in carrying out the method of the present invention. Therefore, in the method of the present invention, the above-mentioned polyfunctional unsaturated urethane compound A and polyfunctional polymerizable ester compound B are used as essential components, and a curable mixed composition in which these are combined is used as a paint as it is, or Furthermore, if necessary, this curable composition can also be used as a paint by adding a photopolymerization initiator C, a photosensitizer D, a paint additive E, and an organic solvent F. In this case, it is preferable to use a photopolymerization initiator in an amount of 0.1 to 20 parts by weight, preferably 0.5 to 10 parts by weight, based on 100 parts by weight of the curable composition. Representative examples include benzoin or benzoin alkyl ethers, acetophenones, benzophenones, benzyl, anthraquinones, polynuclear quinones, and disulfides. In addition, triplet-excited photoinitiators represented by benzophenone include triethanolamine, methyldiethanolamine, dimethylethanolamine, dimethylaminopropanol, Michler's ketone, benzyldimethylamine, 4,
Amine compounds such as 4'-diethylaminobenzophenone or dimethylaminobenzoic acid alkyl esters; or amine compounds having a polymerizable unsaturated bond such as dimethylaminoethyl (meth)acrylate or diethylaminoethyl (meth)acrylate; A photosensitizer having a tertiary amino group can be used in combination. The amount of the photosensitizer used is 0.1 to 10 parts by weight, preferably 0.2 to 5 parts by weight, per 100 parts by weight of the curable composition. In addition, in order to further improve coating film smoothness, antifoaming properties, and stability, the above-mentioned additive E for paints may be silicone-based, fluorine-based, high-boiling aromatic hydrocarbon-based, polycarboxylic acid, or polyester. Known leveling agents and antifoaming agents such as amino salts of phosphoric acid may be mentioned; on the other hand, polymerization inhibitors such as hydroquinone, hydroquinone monomethyl ether, "BHT Swanox" (product of Sumitomo Chemical Co., Ltd.) or phenothiazine, etc. can also be used as a stabilizer, and the amount of such paint additive used is at most 2 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of the curable composition. Of course, two or more of these photopolymerization initiators, photosensitizers, and paint additives may be used in combination. Further, the organic solvent F mentioned above is typically aromatic such as toluene and xylene; ketone such as acetone, methyl ethyl ketone, methyl isobutyl ketone, and cyclohexanone; and ester based such as ethyl acetate and butyl acetate. In some cases, aliphatic solvents may also be used, and these may be used alone or in a mixed system. The amount of polyfunctional unsaturated urethane compound A and polyfunctional ester compound B used is such that the former compound A is contained in the paint in an amount of 20% by weight or more, and the latter compound B is contained in the paint in an amount of 30% by weight or more. It's good to be there. If the amount of polymerizable polyfunctional urethane compound A used is less than 20% by weight, the adhesion to plastic materials or products will be poor, the toughness of the coating will be reduced, and the scratch resistance of the surface will be reduced. This is undesirable because the hardness decreases and the condition of the coated surface becomes poor.On the other hand, if the amount of polyfunctional ester compound B used is less than 30% by weight, the hardness will be insufficient.
This is not preferred because it tends to reduce scratch resistance. The paint thus obtained has a viscosity suitable for the coating method described below using organic solvent F as described above, and
Preferably, it is diluted with a food cup #4 for 15 to 60 seconds, and applied to a film thickness of 1 to 80 μm, preferably 5 to 50 μm, by a known and customary coating method such as spray coating, roll coating, dipping or brush coating.
The resin is coated on the surface of a plastic material or plastic product so as to achieve the following range, and then cross-linked and cured by irradiating it with energy rays. As mentioned above, the coating film thickness is preferably in the range of 1 to 80 μm. If the film thickness is less than 1 μm, roughness of the surface of the material will appear on the painted surface, making it difficult to obtain a near-mirror surface. Conversely, if it exceeds 80 μm, the paint film will harden. This is not preferable because the shrinkage strain of the material becomes large, resulting in loss of adhesion to the material, and in the case where the material is a thin molded product, the material itself becomes distorted. Here, the coating film thus obtained is then crosslinked with energy rays, and typical examples of such energy rays include ultraviolet rays, X-rays, γ-rays, and electron beams. Among these, in the case of ultraviolet curing, a photopolymerization initiator as described above is required, and in particular, ultraviolet rays having a wavelength of 200 to 400 nm can be used mainly for curing. Although irradiation can be carried out in the atmosphere, curability can be further improved by carrying out the irradiation in a stream of an inert gas, such as nitrogen or argon.
Favorable results are obtained. On the other hand, in the case of X-rays, γ-rays, or electron beams, it is preferable to carry out irradiation curing in an inert gas stream as described above. Next, the present invention will be specifically explained with reference to Examples and Comparative Examples. In the following, all parts and percentages are based on weight unless otherwise specified. Example 1 100 ml of "Burnock DN-950" in a four-necked flask
40.9 parts of β-hydroxypropyl acrylate monomer was added to 1 part of β-hydroxypropyl acrylate monomer and the temperature was maintained at 60°C.
It took some time to drip. The mixture was stirred at the same temperature for 1 hour, 0.02 part of dibutyltin diacetate was added, and the reaction was continued for an additional 2 hours. When the reaction was completed, a polymerizable polyfunctional urethane compound A was obtained. Next, 115.9 parts of dipentaerythritol hexaacrylate was added to this, and 12 parts of "Irgakiure #184" (a photopolymerization initiator manufactured by Ciba Geigy) and "Toray Silicone SH28PA" (defoaming agent manufactured by Toray Silicon Co., Ltd.) were added. After adding 0.01 part, the resulting paint was diluted with methyl isobutyl ketone until the polymerizable component content was 30%, and the resulting paint was applied to the ABS board by spray painting (3Kg/cm 2 ).
Thereafter, the material was irradiated for 1 second using a high-pressure mercury lamp manufactured by Iwasaki Electric Co., Ltd. with an output of 80 W/cm to obtain a plastic plate coated with a highly hard and glossy coating. Example 2 A resin-coated plastic with high hardness and good gloss was prepared in the same manner as in Example 1, except that 102.7 parts of "Dismodule N-75" was used in place of "Burnock DN-950". I got the board. Example 3 Except that 114 copies of my colleague's "Takenate D-110N" was used instead of "Burnock DN-950".
A resin-coated plastic board with high hardness and good gloss was obtained in exactly the same manner as in Example 1. Comparative Example 1 50 parts of polyfunctional unsaturated urethane compound A and 1,6
A resin-coated plastic board for comparison was prepared by repeating the same procedure as in Example 1, except that 50 parts of hexanediol diacrylate and 5 parts of "Irgakiure #184" were used. Comparative Example 2 Isophorone diisocyanate in a four-necked flask
222 parts of β-hydroxyethyl acrylate and 116 parts of β-hydroxyethyl acrylate were reacted at 65°C until an isocyanate content of 12.5% was confirmed, and then 4.6 parts of trimethylolpropane and 0.02 parts of dibutyltin diacetate were added. The mixture was reacted until the isocyanate content became 0.2% or less to obtain a polyfunctional unsaturated urethane compound A'. 100 parts of this polymerizable polyfunctional urethane compound and 100 parts of dipentaerythritol hexaacrylate
A resin-coated plastic board for comparison was obtained in the same manner as in Example 1, except that the parts were combined. Example 4 A mixture of 40 parts of the polyfunctional unsaturated urethane compound A used in Example 1 and 60 parts of dipentaerythritol hexaacrylate was coated on a polycarbonate plate with a thickness of 2 mm to a film thickness of 10 μm using a rotating center coating method.
After applying it so that it becomes
Using a 270KV electron beam accelerator, the current value is 25mA, and the total dose is 5Mrad at a distance of 25cm between the radiation source and the subject.
Upon irradiation, a resin-coated plastic board with high hardness and beautiful luster was obtained. Comparative Example 3 A resin-coated plastic board for comparison was obtained by repeating the same operation as in Example 4, except that the same amount of 1,4-butanediol diacrylate was used instead of dipentaerythritol hexaacrylate. Ta. Comparative Example 4 106 parts of diethylene glycol was gradually added to a solution consisting of 522 parts of tolylene diisocyanate and 500 parts of ethyl acetate, and the reaction was continued at 60°C. Next, unreacted tolylene diisocyanate was removed from the reaction mixture using a thin film distillation apparatus together with ethyl acetate to obtain a high viscosity compound having an isocyanate content of 17%. Thereafter, 100 parts of this compound was redissolved in ethyl acetate, heated to 60°C, and β
- 53 parts of hydroxypropyl acrylate was added dropwise and the reaction was continued until the isocyanate content was 0.1% or less to obtain a control polymerizable polyfunctional urethane compound A''. Add 120 parts of dipentaerythritol hexaacrylate, further add 13 parts of "Irgakiure #184" and 0.01 part of "Toray Silicone SH28PA", and then add methyl isobutyl ketone until the polymerizable component content reaches 30%. A control paint was obtained by dilution. Thereafter, coating was carried out in the same manner as in Example 1, except that this control paint was used instead, and crosslinking and curing was caused by irradiation with energy rays to obtain a control resin-coated plastic board. . 【table】
