Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the occurrence of knocking and smoke by changing the first injection start timing, when fuel injection is carried out by dividing it into two times, along the fuel blowby critical crank angle, while by changing the second injection end timing along the smoke critical crank angle.
CONSTITUTION: In a fuel injection device in which the open/close control of a fuel injection valve 14 fitted on a cylinder head 3 is carried out on the basis of the output signal of an electronic control unit 30, when the engine is operated in a low load condition, fuel injection is carried out only one time; while when the engine is operated in an intermediate or high load condition, fuel injection is carried out by dividing it into two times. In other words, the fuel injection start timing θS of the first fuel injection is changed along the fuel blowby critical crank angle, or actually along the crank angle on a slightly top-dead-center side than the fuel blowby critical crank angle. And the fuel injection end timing θE of the second fuel injection is changed along the smoke critical crank angle, or actually along the crank angle on a slightly bottom-dead-center side than the smoke critical crank angle, and the second fuel injection start timing θB is determined by making a reference of the fuel injection end timing θE.
