Abstract

PURPOSE: To print an arbitrary character regardless of a size by a method wherein voltage is applied between a heating material layer and a printing part to heat the pressure part when the printing part is brought into contact with the heating material layer under pressure and this heat of the pressure part is transferred to a transfer material layer to transfer the molten transfer material layer to a surface to be transferred.
CONSTITUTION: A current supply route starting from a driver circuit 12 to again return to the driver circuit 12 through the guide roller 13 of a thermal transfer film 1, a heating material layer 4, a printing wire 5 and a printing head 8 is constituted and, when a current is supplied to the driver circuit 12 by the order of a control circuit 11, the current density of the pressure part of the heating material layer 4 in spot contact with the printing wire becomes high and only this part generates heat. The heating material layer generates a temp. rise instantaneously because said layer is thin and the pressure part thereof is extremely small in its area and low in the heat capacity. This heat is transferred to a transfer material layer through a base film to melt an ink or adhesive layer and, since the transfer material layer is strongly pressed by the tip of the printing wire 5, said layer to be transferred deeply penetrates to the surface 7 to be transferred of a pencil 6.
