Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent a secret file from being illegally destructed, updated and referred to by collating and inspecting the previously registered finger print patterns of a master and an operator with that obtained from a POS terminal and selectively applying the access right of the secret file and a normal operation file. CONSTITUTION:A finger print pattern reader 52 optically reads out a finger print and forms a finger print pattern by impressing a finger to the reader. A CPU 1 inputs the finger print pattern based on a command outputted from the POS terminal 5 and collates and retrieves the entered pattern with the finger pattern in the memory 2. At the time of deciding that the entered pattern is not the master finger print, the CPU decides whether the pattern is the operator's finger print or not, and when the pattern is the operator's finger print, the access right is applied only to the normal operation file 4. If the pattern is not the operator's finger print, the CPU 1 applies a processing stop command to the POS terminal 5 to inhibit the succeeding processing. Consequently, the access right of the secret file in the POS system is not illegally provided.

Conventionally, in this type of POS terminal access method, the POS terminal is locked with a master key and an operator key, and if the master key is used, confidential files can be changed and referenced, and if the operator key is used, the POS terminal is locked. Confidential files cannot be modified or viewed;
They are restricted from accessing only normal business files.

The conventional POS terminal access method described above uses two types of keys, a master key and an operator key, to lock the door, so if someone other than the holder of the master key somehow obtains and uses the master key, has the drawback of giving unauthorized access to confidential files within the POS system. Additionally, if the master key and operator key are lost, there is a drawback that business operations will be delayed. [Means for Solving the Problems] The POS terminal access method of the present invention, in a POS system having confidential files and normal business files, stores each index pattern of a master and an operator registered in advance in the memory of the POS system main body. The stored fingerprint pattern storage means, the fingerprint pattern reading means provided in each of the plurality of POS terminals and optically reading the fingerprint pattern, and the fingerprint pattern from the POS terminal are collated and inspected from the fingerprint pattern storage means and mastered. It is constructed by having a fingerprint determination means for determining whether the fingerprint belongs to the master or an operator, and a processing means that grants access rights to the confidential file when the fingerprint determination means determines that the fingerprint belongs to the master. [Example] Next, an example of the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings. FIG. 1 is a structural diagram of an embodiment of the present invention, in which a central processing unit 1 constitutes a POS main body, and a memory 2 connected to the central processing unit 1 and storing fingerprint patterns of a plurality of masters and operators. , and a confidential file 3 and a normal business file 4 connected to the central processing unit f1, a keyboard with a display 51, and a fingerprint pattern reader 52.
The system is equipped with a plurality of POS terminals 5 with The fingerprint pattern stored in the memory 2 is registered in advance using a specific POS terminal. FIG. 2 is a flowchart of the central processing unit 1 when operating the POS terminal 5 in FIG. 1. To explain the operation of FIG. 1 with reference to FIG. When a finger is pressed, the fingerprint is optically read and a fingerprint pattern is created.The central processing unit 1 captures this fingerprint pattern in response to a command from the POS terminal 5 (Step 2).
, and the fingerprint pattern in the memory 2 is compared and searched (step ■). Next, it is determined whether the fingerprint is the master's fingerprint (Step ■), and if it is the master's fingerprint, access rights to the confidential file 3 and normal business file 4 are granted (
Step■〉. If the fingerprint does not belong to the master in step (2), it is determined whether it is the operator's fingerprint (step (2)), and if it belongs to the operator, access rights are granted to only the normal business file 4. If it does not belong to the operator in step ■, an instruction to stop processing is given to the POS terminal 5, and the subsequent processing is not carried out (step ■>. Unauthorized destruction of confidential files and regular business files by comparing and inspecting the fingerprint pattern of the master and operator with the fingerprint pattern obtained from the POS terminal and selecting and granting access rights to confidential files and regular business files. This has the effect of preventing keys from being accessed, updated, or referenced, and eliminates the risk of losing keys or forgetting to bring a key with you when using a conventional key.
