Abstract

PURPOSE: To remarkably improve safety and reliability of the device by detecting and predicting operating condition of a safety switch, and judging a failure of the safety switch when the detected result and the predicted result do not coincide with each other.
CONSTITUTION: Collision of a vehicle is judged by a means 11 based on acceleration of the vehicle detected with a sensor 10. Meanwhile, a safety switch 13 is operated by a lower level collision than the collision judging level to maintain a safety device operating circuit 12 in a work preparatory condition. When collision judgement is concluded in the work preparatory condition, the above- stated circuit 12 is controlled into operating condition by a means 14. In this case, operating condition of the safety switch 13 is detected by a mean 15. Further, operating condition of the safety switch 13 is predicted by a means 16, based on the acceleration of the vehicle detected with the sensor 10. When the above-stated detected result and predicted result as to operating condition of the safety switch 13 do not coincide with each other, the failure of the safety switch 13 is judged by a means 17.
