Conventionally, water stop plates installed at joints in concrete structures have generally been completely embedded in concrete, as shown in FIG. In addition, such a waterstop plate is made entirely or partially of a water-swellable substance to improve its waterstopping properties.

In this conventional water stop construction method, the water stop plate is completely buried in the concrete, so it is necessary to hold or fix the water stop plate during construction, which creates voids or air pots at the boundary between the water stop plate and the concrete. There was a problem with that.

As an example of the water stop plate of the present invention is shown in FIG.
A water-swellable substance 3 is held between the parts 2', and holes 4, 4' passing through the main body 1 and the water-swellable substance 3 are formed in the water-swellable substance holding part. It is characterized by being installed on the surface.

The waterstop main body 1 of the present invention is integrally formed with ribs 2, 2', etc. from a known material such as synthetic resin or synthetic rubber.
Further, as the water-swellable substance 3, for example, vinyl,
Acrylic homopolymers or copolymers, polyurethane polymers, cellulose, starch or modified or crosslinked products thereof can be used.

Among these, preferred are flexible materials containing water-swellable polyurethane, and particularly preferred are flexible materials comprising a mixture of water-swellable polyurethane and natural rubber, synthetic rubber, recycled rubber, or the like.

An appropriate number of ribs 2, 2', etc. may be provided depending on the use and purpose of the water stop plate. These ribs retain the water-swellable material between them and additionally serve to prevent water from entering through the seams. When water enters through the seam, the water-swellable substance 3 expands upon contact with the water to fill the gap and prevent further water from entering.

The holes 4, 4' provided in the water-swellable substance holding portion are provided so that air pots do not occur between the concrete and the water stop plate. The size and number of holes may be determined as appropriate within a range that does not allow concrete to flow out, and the optimum water stop plate may be designed according to the purpose of construction and the construction environment. Gas generated during concrete hardening escapes through the holes 4, 4', so no air pots are generated. Note that since it takes time for the water-swellable substance to absorb water and swell to close the pores, the pores will not be completely blocked by the time the concrete hardens. The water-stopping function of the water-swellable substance is achieved after curing is completed and gas is released.

Note that the inflow and outflow of water from these pores is prevented by the presence of the water-swellable substance, and therefore does not affect the water-stopping property.

In order to install the water stop plate of the present invention on the surface of a concrete structure as shown in FIG. 2, first, the water stop plate 1 is attached to a suitable formwork (not shown).
Leave it in place temporarily. Next, concrete structure 5 is placed and hardened, and further concrete structure 6 is placed and hardened. Finally, when the formwork is removed from the water stop plate, it can be installed on the joint surface of the concrete structure as shown in FIG.

Furthermore, since it contains a water-swellable material and ribs, it has excellent water-stopping properties, and furthermore, as mentioned above, there is no occurrence of air pots.
