Abstract

PURPOSE: To make special testing equipments unnecessary by performing no-load test and short-circuit test of a generator isolated from a main circuit with an excitation power supply for test obtained from the external power system side via an excitation transformer.
CONSTITUTION: When static characteristic test of a generator 1 is performed, no-load saturation test and short-circuit test of the generator 1 are performed under a state wherein a disconnecting switch 13 is opened and the generator 1 is isolated from a main circuit 6, while the exciting circuit 8 of the generator 1 is excited by feeding power from a main bus 3 at the external power system side via a breaker 12, a main transformer 2 and an exciting transformer 5. When this test is performed, by shorting the secondary circuit of a current transformer 15c which is attached to a ratio differential relay 15 for protecting the main transformer and is located at the neutral side of the generator 1, the main transformer 2 is protected against sudden failure, preventing the malfunction of the ratio differential relay 15 due to armature current.
