Abstract

PURPOSE: To detect load-side wire breaking by putting a voltage/current converting circuit in stable operation at the time of a no-load connection and connecting a photocoupler, etc., in series with a Zener diode connected in parallel to a load and in parallel to the load.
CONSTITUTION: The photocoupler 7 operates as a current detecting element and when the load 6 is not connected, a current flows from a current source V2 to the photocoupler 7, the Zener diode 5, a transistor(TR) 3, and a feedback resistance 4. This current value is large enough to turn ON the output TR of the photocoupler 7 and when the load 6 is not connected, signals L, C, and D are ON. When the load 6 is connected, on the other hand, the current flows from the current source V2 to the load 6, TR 3, and feedback resistance 4. The voltage across the load 6 is lower than the Zener voltage of the diode 5, so when the load 6 is connected, no current flows to the photocoupler 7, whose output TR is OFF, so that the signals L, C, and D are OFF.
