Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a three-dimensional image from a two-dimensional display image without using an auxiliary means such as color spectacles or polarizing spectacles by arranging a hologram between a color display device which makes a two-dimensional display of multicolor light and the eyes of an observer.
CONSTITUTION: A multicolor light two-dimensional display image 16 which is displayed on a color display device 15 is diffracted by the hologram 11, color- dispersed at the same time, and directed to the eyes 12 of the observer. The observer sees a virtual image 13 beyond the hologram 11, but the virtual image 13 have two-dimensional virtual images of red, yellow, green, blue, etc., distributed in order from this side to the inner side and depth information is represented by the colors. Consequently, the three-dimensional image can be obtained from the two-dimensional display image without color spectacles, polarizing spectacles, etc.
