Abstract
PURPOSE: To effectively detect an output short-circuit and to protect a main circuit element by conducting a specific self-arc-extinguishing element of upper and lower arms of a main circuit, feeding a short-circuit detection current to the output side of an inverter, and detecting the short-circuit of the inverter according to the magnitude of the current.
CONSTITUTION: A short-circuit detection current flowing to a short-circuit detection current path b' flows the path b' only during a period in which pulses are applied to the elements of both upper and lower arms of the pulses of phases (e.g. a period in which pulses are applied to elements 11a, 11e, 11f). According to the path b', the detection current always flows to CTs 13, 14 of the output side of a main circuit 10. Accordingly, the short-circuit of the inverter can be effectively detected.
