Abstract

PURPOSE: To surely prevent switching surge generating and lower the cost of a circuit-breaker by detecting current running in a main circuit of an electric power system opening a vacuum circuit-breaker at a specified phase and composing only one of contacts on fixed side and movable side of a material having low current shutting value.
CONSTITUTION: When an output of a transformer 1 having the same phase as a main circuit current is input to a pulse generating circuit 2, the circuit 2 generates a pulse at zero point of the input signal. The pulse provides half- wave rectification for input to a driving pulse generating circuit 4. When a circuit-breaker tripping signal is input to the circuit 4 from outside, the circuit 4 generates a driving pulse and the tripping signal is provided to the operation system of a vacuum circuit-breaker 6 from a tripping circuit 5 after prescribed period. Consequently, a contact in the fixed side 13 and a contact in the movable side 14 of the circuit-breaker 6 can be opened at a specified phase of current running in the main circuit. When only one of the contacts 13, 14 on a cathodic point side is composed of a material having a low current shutting value, the current shutting value becomes low, Switching surge generation is thus surely prevented and the cost is lowered.
