Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the deterioration of taste due to destruction of cells of food by a method wherein food in a compartment is cooled to a temperature, at which the food is not frozen, and the compartment is depressurized.
CONSTITUTION: When a plug 51 is connected to a receptacles, a compressor 7 is started, and the refrigerant is circulated between a chiller 9, 10 or 11 and a radiator 12 through a refrigerant pipe 8. As a result, the inside of a compartment 3, 4 or 5 is cooled. Then, when a switch 27a is turned on, a control circuit 53 performs depressurizing action of the inside of the compartment 5. At this time, the control circuit controls a lock mechanism 26 first to lock a door 23 so that the door can not be opened. Simultaneously, the control circuit 53 drives an indicator 28 and turns on an LED to indicate the event that the compartment is depressurized. Then, the control circuit 53 controls a vacuum pump 13 and valves 15 and 16 to evacuate the air in the compartment 5 to the outside through the valves 15 and 16. Thereby, the inside of the compartment is depressurized.
