Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the consumption of a grate by using the recovered quick lime of a relatively low degree of calcination and a coarse size as the bedding for a material mixture composed of quick lime and powder coke at the time of calcining the material mixture in a preheater of a rotary kiln without rolling the material.
CONSTITUTION: The material mixture M formed by adding the powder coke C and further water to the quick lime and mixing the same is supplied to the preheater 10 of the rotary kiln and is ignited by an ignition burner 9. The mixture is burned by air suction. The material M is calcined in the preheater 10 without rolling the material to obtain the quick lime.
