Pigment water-based inks have better light resistance and light resistance than dye-based water inks.
Although its superiority in terms of water resistance etc. is recognized, in the case of pigment inks like this, if you try to increase the pigment concentration to increase the image density when writing, the stability of the ink will decrease and the pen tip will not work properly. There is a problem that the pigment ink becomes unusable due to clogging, etc., and therefore, it is not possible to obtain pigment ink with high concentration.

In addition, in order to improve the hiding power of written letters or to make the letters pastel-like, these white inorganic pigments can be used in combination with white inorganic pigments such as titanium oxide, which has a high hiding power and is commonly used in the colorant field. has a higher specific gravity than chromatic pigments, and during storage or use of the ink, the white inorganic pigment separates and settles to form a hard cake, which causes many problems when used as an ink composition for writing instruments. The above addition-polymerizable polymer dispersant can be prepared by mixing hydrophilic and lipophilic monomers in appropriate proportions and performing a conventionally known mixed polymerization method, such as a solution polymerization method, a suspension polymerization method, an emulsion polymerization method, etc. It can be obtained by any polymerization method. Known additives such as polymerization regulators can also be used if necessary. As long as the polymerization medium used at this time is water or a hydrophilic medium that can be used as an aqueous medium for ink, the polymerization liquid obtained as is can be used as an ink medium, or the polymerization medium can be used as an ink medium. After separation from the solution,
It can also be used after being redissolved in an appropriate medium.

The polymer dispersant obtained in this way is not particularly defined by its molecular weight, but those having a molecular weight in the range of 1.000 to 1,000 are determined by the polymer content in the solution. This is preferable from the viewpoint of properties such as solution viscosity and viscosity of an ink composition using it, and quality such as fastness of recorded matter.

The white hollow resin particles used in the present invention appear white by diffusing light due to the interface between the gas phase in the hollow portion and the same phase of the resin, and are insoluble in the ink medium and do not form a film. Preferably, the particle size is 0.1 to 1.0 um, and the inner diameter of the hollow portion is in the range of 20 to 90% of the outer diameter. If this value is 90% or more, the strength of the resin particles will decrease, and if strong force is applied, the resin particles will be easily destroyed. On the other hand, if this value is less than 20%, the light diffusion efficiency will decrease and the hiding power will decrease, so it is preferable. do not have.

Further, even if the surface and inner surface of the hollow resin particles are smooth, sufficient hiding properties are obtained, but it is preferable that the surface and/or inner surface have irregularities, since this is further improved due to diffused reflection.

If the content of the above-mentioned white hollow resin particles in the ink composition of the present invention is too small, a sufficient pastel tone cannot be obtained, while if it is too large, the obtained image becomes too whitish. It accounts for 3 to 30% by weight.

By adding the white hollow resin particles, which appear white when used alone, to a pigment ink containing a chromatic pigment as described above, the resulting ink has a chromatic pastel tone with extremely high diffuse reflectance. Therefore, characters and images formed with the ink have a distinct pastel tone.

Of course, such a pastel tone can also be obtained by adding a conventionally known white inorganic pigment such as titane oxide to the ink, but with the addition of such a white inorganic pigment,
As already mentioned, the ink itself becomes unusable as a writing instrument.

In contrast, in the present invention, the white hollow resin particles as described above have a significantly lower specific gravity than the white inorganic pigment, so they do not separate from the chromatic pigments present in the ink (and maintain a stable dispersion state). The ink composition can maintain sufficient fractional stability as an ink composition for writing instruments.

In the present invention, the above polymer dispersant can be used as it is as a binder for the chromatic pigment and/or white hollow resin particles in the ink, but the polymer dispersant alone is insufficient as a binder, and the durability of writing materials is If the friction properties are not sufficient, other water-soluble resins may be added as necessary.
