Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the aluminous ceramic filter having high strength and excellent resistance to damaging by using a mixture formed by adding colloidal silica and hollow silica powder to alumina powder which is a membrane constituting particle as a raw material for membrane formation.
CONSTITUTION: The mixture formed by adding the colloidal silica (which is the superfine silica particle incorporated at 25 to 125 pts.wt. in 100 pts.wt. alumina particle, plays the role of an adhesive agent to connect the alumina particles to each other to a long chain shape at the contact points thereof and enhances the sintering strength of a permeable membrane with its large specific surface area) and the hollow silica powder (which is incorporated at 10 to 50 pts.wt., melts and sinters sufficiently in the sintering treatment of the permeable membrane and provides the glassy coating on the surface of the permeable membrane) to the alumina powder which is the membrane body constituting particle, is used as the raw material for the membrane formation, by which the aluminous ceramic filter having the high strength of the permeable membrane body and the excellent resistance to the damaging such as cracking and peeling is obtd.
