Abstract

PURPOSE: To eliminate the possibility that a magnetic gap layer is peeled and to improve yield by depositing and forming the magnetic gap layer which is nonmagnetic on a substrate including the top of a 1st lower magnetic pole layer, then depositing and forming a 2nd lower magnetic pole layer in a groove from above the magnetic gap layer formed in the other sandwiching the groove.
CONSTITUTION: The magnetic gap layer 34 which is nonmagnetic is deposited and formed on the substrate 31 including the top of the 1st lower magnetic pole layer 33 and after the 2nd lower magnetic pole layer 35 extending on the magnetic gap layer 34 existing in the groove 32 is deposited and formed, an insulating layer 36 between the 1st layers, a thin-film coil 37, an insulating layer 38 between the 2nd layers, and an upper magnetic yoke 39 are successively laminated and formed thereon. A terminal drawing out layer 40 is formed at the end of the thin-film coil 37 and an insulating protective film 41 is formed on the thin-film coil 37 and the upper magnetic yoke layer 39; thereafter, the surface on the opposite side where the magnetic pole layer, etc., of the substrate 31 are not formed is lapped to expose the 1st, 2nd lower magnetic pole layers 33, 35 and the magnetic gap layer 34. The magnetic gap layer is stably formed with a good adhesive property on the substrate in this way and the yield of production is improved.
