Abstract

PURPOSE: To allow the easy formation of uniform guide parts even on a flat disk so that tracking can be stabilized by depositing a guide part forming film for forming the guide parts on a substrate in addition to a recording film for recording information.
CONSTITUTION: A TbFeCo film which is the rewritable recording film is used as the information recording film 6 and TeSe which is the phase changing recording film is used as the guide part forming film 4. SiN films are used as protective films 5, 7. The film formation is executed by first forming the film of the TeSe as the guide part forming film on the flat substrate 1 to a prescribed thickness, then forming the protective film 5, the information recording film 6 and the protective film 7 in this order continuously as it is respectively to prescribed thicknesses. This magneto-optical disk is irradiated spirally with an HeNe laser beam, at specified intervals by using this laser. Two kinds of the TeSe films which vary in optical conditions are spirally disposed eventually at prescribed intervals on the optical disk after the irradiation with the laser beam. The disk is uniformized over the entire surface thereof in this way and the tracking is extremely stabilized.
