Abstract

PURPOSE:To efficiently execute the image decoding by changing a decoding means to be applied in accordance with the case when an input image signal is an image signal corresponding to a display area, and the case when signal is an image signal corresponding to a non-display area. CONSTITUTION:By utilizing the information of superposition of plural images on a display screen of an image display device, decoding means 23 - 28 are changed in accordance with a display area displayed on the screen and a non- display area which is masked by other image and not displayed. That is, whether a received image signal is a signal corresponding to the display area or a signal corresponding to the non-display area is discriminated, by which as for the display area, and the non-display area, a decoding processing required for decoding an image, and a processing which requires no decoding are applied, respectively. In such a way, the quantity of the decoding processing of the whole device can be decreased.

In order to achieve the above object, a means for receiving a plurality of image signals encoded by an image encoding device, a means for decoding the received image signal to restore an image, and a means for receiving a plurality of image signals encoded by an image encoding device, a means for decoding the received image signal and restoring the image, and a means for receiving a plurality of image signals encoded by an image encoding device, A means for managing information on the position, size, and overlapping order of images; and a means for managing information on the position, size, and overlapping order of images;
In an image receiving device that displays the plurality of images simultaneously on a screen, the image receiving device includes means for receiving size/overlapping information and arranging and composing the plurality of images on a single screen while allowing the plurality of images to overlap, and displaying the plurality of images on the screen at the same time. receives said information from a means for managing position, size, and overlapping order information of multiple images to be displayed simultaneously on the screen, and determines whether the received image signal is a signal corresponding to the display area to be displayed on the screen or whether there is another an identification means for identifying whether the signal corresponds to a non-display area that is hidden by an image and not displayed; and a decoding means for applying the image signal to the image signal corresponding to the display area, the decoding means being sufficient for displaying the image signal. a decoding processing means that performs a decoding process, and a decoding means applied to an image signal corresponding to a non-display area, the decoding processing means performing only a part of the decoding process or not performing the decoding process. A case where the input image signal is an image signal corresponding to a display area is provided with a determining means that performs no decoding at all, and a switching means that switches the decoding means applied to the input image signal based on the identification result by the identification means. The main feature is that the decoding means applied is different depending on whether the image signal corresponds to a non-display area or the image signal corresponds to a non-display area.

According to the above-mentioned means, information on the overlapping of multiple images on the display screen of an image display device is used to decode the display area displayed on the screen and the non-display area hidden by other images and not displayed. By changing the decoding means, it is possible to identify whether the received image signal is a signal corresponding to a display area or a signal corresponding to a non-display area. The amount of decoding processing required for the entire device can be reduced by applying the decoding processing necessary to restore the image to the display area and unnecessary processing to the non-display area. can be reduced.

In addition, by applying different decoding methods to areas that are displayed and areas that are not displayed on the screen of the image display device, decoding processing is performed for one display area, and decoding processing is performed for one display area, and In this case, it is possible to take a measure of not performing the decoding process. If an area that is not displayed on the screen is not displayed at all thereafter, there is no need to decode the area.

Furthermore, even when the area is displayed, if the received image signal is an image signal encoded by an encoding method that does not utilize the correlation between frames, it is necessary to decode one frame in the past. The sent signal is not used, and there is no need to perform decoding processing on the area while it is not displayed on the screen.

In addition, by applying different decoding means to areas that are displayed on the screen of a single image display device and areas that are not displayed, the received image signal is encoded using a coding method that uses correlation between frames. In the case of an image signal encoded by an image encoding means that uses both encoding methods that do not utilize correlation between It is possible to take a measure of performing decoding processing including signal components other than the above, and processing only the signal component representing the inter-frame difference for the image signal corresponding to the non-display area. When the image encoding means uses both an encoding method that utilizes correlation between frames and an encoding method that does not utilize correlation between frames, the received image signal contains a signal component representing an interframe difference and an encoding method that does not utilize interframe correlation. It consists of signal components resulting from a coding method that does not use correlation, but in order to display images in areas that have been hidden by other images on the screen, it is necessary to use interframe difference signal components. , the integration operation must be performed even while the region is not displayed on the screen. On the other hand, signal components resulting from a coding method that does not utilize correlation between frames are unnecessary for restoring another frame. Therefore, in areas that are not displayed on the screen, there is no need to process signal components other than the inter-frame difference signal components, and it is sufficient to process only the inter-frame difference signal components, and this area is now displayed. In some cases, the image of the area can be restored without requesting the transmitting side to retransmit the image signal.

In this way, by not performing decoding processing for areas that are not displayed on the screen of the image display device, or by simplifying the processing, the scale of the storage device of the decoding device can be reduced and the decoding processing speed can be improved. It becomes possible to do so.

The non-display part decoding means 2G, 27.28 are means for decoding the coding units not displayed on the display screen, and the display part decoding means 23, 24, 25 are means for decoding the coding units displayed on one screen. It is a means of decoding. Here, an image decoding device in which the non-display portion decoding means 2ε, 27.28 does not decode a coding unit and does not always output a black image signal;
Further, it is possible to realize an image decoding device in which the non-display portion decoding means processes only the inter-frame difference signal component of the encoding unit.

Although one image signal output switching circuit is provided for each of the three images, it is also possible to provide only one of each of these and share it among the three images by using it in a time-sharing manner. Furthermore, although this embodiment deals with the case where three images are displayed on the screen of the image display device, the present invention can be implemented similarly even when the number of images is not three.

As described above, according to the present invention, when displaying a plurality of images on the screen simultaneously, information on the overlap of the plurality of images on the screen of the image display device is used.
Image decoding means is switched between a display area and a non-display area on the screen. Therefore, it is possible to perform efficient image decoding without unnecessary decoding processing for non-display areas.
