Abstract

PURPOSE: To remarkably improve the corrosion resistance of a hot dip aluminized steel sheet by forming a specified Al layer on the surface of a steel sheet by hot dip aluminizing.
CONSTITUTION: A steel sheet is hot dip aluminized with a hot dip aluminizing bath consisting of 0.01-1% Cr as a principal additive element, <1% Si and the balance Al with inevitable impurities. The hot dip aluminized steel sheet forms a dense passive coat in a corrosive environment by the effect of Cr in the formed Al layer and superior corrosion resistance and satisfactory surface properties can be ensured.
