Abstract

PURPOSE: To attain a high transfer speed and to improve the reliability by allowing a transmission agent to send a 1st signal (RTS), allowing a reception agent to send a 2nd signal (CTS) including CTS control characters, and allowing the transmission agent to send data packets at a speed corresponding to the CTS control characters.
CONSTITUTION: An agent to make a request of sending data to a reception agent sends a request to send(RTS) data packet including a control character 36 requesting high or low speed data communication. Upon the receipt of the RTS data packet, after the reception agent receives the RTS packet, the reception agent should send a clear-to-send (CTS) packet within a prescribed period to the transmission agent. Then the transmission agent receiving the CTS packet generates data packets and sends them at a high or low speed according to a value set by the control character 36 in the CTS packet. Thus, a high speed transfer is attained and the reliability is improved.
