Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce a cast strip having excellent shape characteristic at high yield by arranging a lower roll having flat circumferential face at least at center part as facing to an upper roll having small diameter at the edge parts and flat circumferential face at the center part in single belt type continuous casting apparatus.
CONSTITUTION: The upper roll 17 has tapered parts, which both end parts have smaller diameter than the diameter at the center part. The lower roll 18 is formed to the shape having ordinary flat circumferential face. At the time of combining the upper roll 17 and the lower roll 18, the flat gap is formed at center parts. In the tapered parts 19 at both ends of the upper roll, the gap between both rolls is widened. By executing rolling with the upper roll forming the tapered parts 19 at both ends matching to the shape of the cast strip 11 and the lower roll, rolling reduction force with the rolls to the edge parts 11a, 11b is reduced. Tendency stretching the center part of the cast strip 11 to the longitudinal direction is restrained and the development of crack 16 at the center part of the cast strip 11 is eliminated. By this method, the cast strip having excellent shape characteristic can be obtd.
