Abstract

PURPOSE:To always perform stable emission in a predetermined direction in use with substantially uniform liquid quantity regardless of the material quality of a recording head and to sufficiently adapt to high speed recording by treating the outer surface of a recording head surrounding an emitting orifice with a specific compound to apply liquid repellency thereto. CONSTITUTION:In an ink jet recording head, at least the peripheral edge part of an emitting orifice is treated with a compound represented by formula I or II (wherein R and R' may be the same or different hydrocarbon groups wherein one or more hydrogen atoms are substituted with fluorine atoms) to form a liquid repellent film to the outer wall surface surrounding the emitting orifice. Large difference is confirmed in a contact angle according to the presence of liquid repelling treatment and, in an untreated case, ink is drawn under gravity to form stagnated ink at a lower part and, since a liquid droplet is pulled by said stagnated ink at the time of emission, an emitting direction becomes indefinite. Contrarily, in the treated case, the part of the stagnated ink is not confirmed and, therefore, the liquid droplet flies stably in a definite direction.
