Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent generation of gear sound without causing delay of transmission at the time of starting by forming a gap on the pitch circle of the cog part of No.1 transmitting member in a dimension greater than the thickness of the cog part of No.2 transmitting member, and putting those side faces of transmitting members which face one another in close contact using an energizing means in the condition that the two cog parts mesh with each other.
CONSTITUTION: A meshing clutch is formed from a transmission gear 21 as No.1 transmitting member borne idlingly by No.1 transmission shaft and a shifting member 17 as No.2 transmitting member, and internally formed No.1 cog part 21A on the transmission gear 21 side is meshed with and disengaged from the externally formed No.2 cog part 17A on the shifting member 17 side. The meshing cogs 17a, 21a of these cog parts 17A, 21A have the same thickness and a pitch P four times as large as this cog thickness, and in meshing condition, their mating side faces in the axial direction are pressed by a spring so as to be in close contact condition. After one-end meshes, the twist return force due to stop of starting is opposed to the close contact force, and thus gear sound is prevented with no delay in transmission at the time of starting.
