Abstract

PURPOSE: To attain high speed current control by using a switching element so as to short-circuit or open an output side of a reactor, clamping a load voltage to a DC power supply with a diode and supplying a pulse current to the load through the opened switching element.
CONSTITUTION: A hysteresis comparator 22 compares a chopper circuit current I detected by a current detector 4 with a current reference IR to obtain a pulse width modulation signal. Then an insulation gate bipolar transistor(TR) (IGBT) 2 is modulated so that the currents I and IR are made coincident. On the other hand, the output side of the reactor 5 supplies a pulse power to a load 9 depending on/off of the IGBT 2. A diode 21 is connected between the output of the reactor 5 and a DC power supply 1 in the polarity to clamp the level thereby clamping an overvoltage due to a delay in the load 9. A pulse timing signal PT turns on/off the IGBT 20 via a device circuit 18. Then only when the IGBT 20 is turned off, the current i9 flows at a high speed.
