Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent multiple starting of a fault locator caused by variation in zero-phase voltage by starting the locator under an AND condition that a grounding overvoltage relay is on and a breaker for neutral point grounding acts.
CONSTITUTION: A breaker 9 is provided with an auxiliary contact 10, from which signal is sent with signal from a grounding overvoltage relay 11A to the AND circuit 12. The locator is started by the AND circuit 12. By this method, the locator 11 can be started only when grounding fault occurs while the breaker 9 is closed. When the breaker 9 is opened by operation of a protecting relay to give arc-suppressing coil grounding, the grounding overvoltage relay repeats on-off due to unstable zero-phase voltage. However, even in this case, the locator 11 can not be started since the auxiliary contact 10 of the breaker 9 is open. Thus, unnecessary starting of the locator can be avoided.
