Abstract

PURPOSE: To make it possible for a user to modify simply the position of a vehicle after computation by a method wherein, when the vehicle arrives at a position indicated by a specific signal, the user selects the specific signal and shifts the position of the vehicle to the position of the specific signal.
CONSTITUTION: Data from a map storage device 4 storing map informations, an information storage device 7 storing informations on specific signals, an azimuth sensor 2 and a distance sensor 3 are taken in a control device 1 and the current position of a vehicle are computed therefrom. When the vehicle arrives at a position (a tollgate of a superhighway or a turnpike, a railroad crossing or the like) indicated by the specific signal and a user judges modification to be needed, he stops the vehicle, operates an operating device 6 to take out positions indicated by specific signal informations, selects one of them and shifts the position of the vehicle to the selected position. As the result, the user can simply conduct modification in respect to accumulated errors of the azimuth sensor 2 and the distance sensor 3.
