PURPOSE:To reduce the cost and weight and to decrease the degree of blinding by impregnating a thick cup-like or cylindrical sponge with oil in such a manner as to permit air to pass therethrough and forming a sponge holding portion and a fitting port portion. CONSTITUTION:By the negative pressure of an intake system, a suction cavity portion 2 of a sponge 1 becomes negative pressure, so that the air is sucked in the suction cavity portion 2 from the outer periphery of the sponge 1. Though the sponge itself has a filtration function, sponge oil is soaked into the sponge, its filtration function is further improved so that foreign matter in intake air is captured by a pore of the sponge 1 and the captured foreign matter is hard to escape by oil. Accordingly, pure air can be sucked in the intake system through the suction cavity portion 2 and an intake outlet 4. As an air cleaner for a model car is constructed so that a filtration member is formed by sponge impregnated with oil, the structure is simplified to reduce the manufacturing cost and the weight, and to improve stability for fitting and decrease the degree of blinding.
