Abstract

PURPOSE: To shorten the response time and to improve the working rate in a data transfer system by transferring the data stored in a buffer to a main storage device when the next access request and its range are given to a controller from a host device.
CONSTITUTION: A receiving range of the next access request is designated and a pre-reading request is produced before an access request is transferred from a host device and also the data is transferred to a buffer memory or a main storage device 2 against said access request. Then the data which is pre-read by the pre-reading request is previously stored in a buffer 23. Then the data stored in the buffer 23 is transferred to the storage device 2 when the next access is produced. Thus a pre-reading access is possible to an external storage device 6 in parallel with the processing state of the host device (CPU 1). Then the response time is shortened.
