PURPOSE: To provide a wide range of capacity control with maintaining a specified cooling capacity by restraining the valve lift of an indoor electric expansion valve so as to make the degree of suction overheat higher than a specified value when the degree of suction overheat lower than a specified value is detected.
CONSTITUTION: An outdoor control device 15a furnished in an outdoor control unit 15 calculates a degree of suction overheat Sho according to a equation Sho=Tsuc-Te, where Te is defined as a pressure-equivalent saturation temperature detected by a pressure sensor P1 and Tsuc as a suction gas temperature detected by a suction temper ature sensor TH6, and discriminates whether the degree of suction overheat Sho is lower than the set value Tsh. When the result of discrimination is YES, it is judged as wet operating condition, and a wet signal is transmitted. On the other hand, an indoor control device 16a discriminates whether it is in dehumidifying operation. When the result of discrimination is No, i.e. not in dehumidifying operation, a target valve lift value AR of an indoor motor driven expansion valve 13 is calculated so as to be a value corresponding to a temperature difference between a room temperature value Ta and a set room temperature Ts. When the result is YES, i.e. in dehumidifying operation, the target valve lift valve AR is fixed at a saturation valve lift value Amax and the operation is carried out.
