Abstract

PURPOSE: To make a topographical surveying process simple and high in accuracy by providing a surveying process, a coordinate calculating process, a recording process, a three-dimensional triangular polygon generating process, a ground surface approximating process, and a plotting process.
CONSTITUTION: In the surveying process, light is emitted from a light wave distance measuring device 1 installed at one point to a reflecting mirror 2 which is installed while moving to respective survey points and its reflected light is received to measure the distance and angle. In the coordinate calculating process, respective X, Y, and Z coordinates are found from distance measurement and angle measurement data at the respective points and in the recording process, the respective coordinate data are recorded in a portable field computer. In the three-dimensional triangular polygon generating process, a personal computer connected to the field computer composes a triangular surface by connecting the respective adjacent points according to X, Y, and Z data at the respective points to constitute a ground surface in three dimensions by using many triangular surfaces. In the ground surface approximating process, a three-dimensional triangular polygon is cut by a plane having an optional angle and its sectional ground surface shape is found approximately for the actual sectional ground surface shape. In the plotting process, a drawing such as a desired contour map is plotted.
