Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a blood platelet coagulation inhibiting agent having blood platelet coagulation inhibiting activity and high safety and suitable to be applied for a long period to prevent thrombosis, atheromatous arteriosclerosis, etc., by using epigallocatechin gallate or epicatechin gallate as an active component.
CONSTITUTION: The objective agent contains, as an active component, epigallocatechin gallate or epicatechin gallate separated from a soluble extract of tea leaves (e.g. green tea, oolong tea or black tea) or from purified soluble extract. The active component is prepared most preferably by adding about 20-40l of hot water to 1kg of tea leaves, decocting for about 10-30min, optionally pressing the leaves and freeze-drying the obtained juice. The tea leaf extract prepared by the above method contains about 30% of the active component. Tea catechins are produced by extracting tea leaves with hot water or a hydrophilic organic solvent in the same manner as above, extracting and removing natural polymers from the extract and further extracting with an organic solvent.
