Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the working efficiency and to reduce the load of a control operator by storing the starting/stopping state of a client into a server and performing the automatic starting/stopping actions of the server in response to the client. CONSTITUTION:A file 1 consisting of a large capacity disk connected to a processor 101 serving as a server holds concentrically the information on all processors 101 - 104. When the processor 102, for example, starts with application of a power supply, a prescribed signal is sent to the processor 101 based on a set algorithm. Then the processor 101 starts with a power supply which is applied in the receiving timing of the prescribed signal. The start information on the processors 102 - 104 are internally controlled by the processor 101. As a result, the power supply of the processor 101 is automatically switched off in the timing when the information on the break of the power supply of the last processor 102. Thus the working efficiency is improved and the load of a control operator is reduced.

In the conventional server startup/shutdown method described above,
When using a client, it is necessary to check whether the server is running and to start it up if it is not running, and when the client is terminated, it is necessary to check that other clients are down and to shut down the server if you are an Af& client. However, these tasks have to be done twice and are a burden to the administrator.

The method of the present invention is a method for starting and stopping servers in a computer network system, when a processing device functioning as a client is powered on.
According to the algorithm set in this computer network system, a predetermined signal is sent to a processing device functioning as a server, and the server is automatically powered on, and the server remembers the startup/shutdown status of the client, This system is characterized in that the server is automatically powered off when the last client is powered off.
