Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:A peptide compound containing an amino acid residue sequence selected from formulas I-III in at least a part of the compound.
USE: An antiserum and antibody specifically recognizing transforming growth factor β (abbreviated as TGF-β) and antiserum and antibody specifically recognizing TGF-β and suppressing the activity of the factor.
PREPARATION: The objective peptide compound is produced by chemical engineering method, genetic engineering method, etc., and is bonded to a polymeric carrier and used as an immunogen. For example, an animal albumin is used as the carrier and is bonded to the peptide preferably by MBS process comprising the bonding of cysteine to the N-terminal or C-terminal of the peptide through amide bond, the reaction of MBS with thiol group of cysteine and the reaction of MBS with the amino group of said carrier.
