Abstract

PURPOSE: To eliminate the change of color of a laser collecting mirror and to obtain a stable heating condition at any time even at the time using it over a long time under air atmosphere by providing a cooling means to the laser collecting mirror of the fiber production device using laser heating.
CONSTITUTION: In the fiber production device using laser heating in which a sample 11, such as an oxide single crystal, is continuously supplied and heated and melted by laser light 4a, and then solidified to produce fiber 14, the following are provided: a laser generating means 1 generating laser light 1a, a laser light collecting mirror 5 which collects laser light (1a→2a→3a→4a) sent from the laser generating means 1 to the sample 11, a cooling means which cools the laser light collecting mirror 5 and keeps its surface temp. in the range from room temp. to 50°C, for example, a jacket 16 through which cooling water flows is provided on the back surface of the mirror 5.
