Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent a transistor from damaging due to an abnormal drop in a base current or a gate voltage by inhibiting all the transistors to turn ON when the base current or the gate voltage of a power transistor are insufficient or abnormal.
CONSTITUTION: If any of drive signals U-, V-, W- is turned ON, a photocoupler 10 is turned ON through an inverter 9. Thus, the '+' side input of a comparator 12 is varied to a voltage at the time of ON. On the other hand, since the base current flows, a voltage drop occurs at a resistor R1, and is input to the '-'side of the comparator 12. The comparator 12 compares the input voltages, but the photocoupler 11 is turned ON at the time of anomaly, and an anomaly signal 14 is output from a NOR circuit 13. Transistors Q1-Q6 are turned OFF by the signal 14, and the anomaly state is informed.
