Abstract

PURPOSE: To optionally control a thickness of scales generated on a hot rolled steel sheet after finish rolling to be in a target range by controlling a cooling capacity of a rapidly cooling device installed in the finish rolling mill side for hot rolling of a steel sheet.
CONSTITUTION: A rapidly cooling device 2 aiming to perform scale thickness control is installed immediately behind a finish rolling stand 1 of a hot rolling line. A hot run table 3 is installed in the downstream side of the rapidly cooling device 2 and a steel sheet 4 is cooled at both its upper and lower surfaces by plural coolers. A winder is installed in the outlet side of the table 3 and a computer is also installed to control all the coolers. If a heat transfer coefficient necessary to find a target scale thickness is calculated, a cooling capacity of the outlet side quencher 2 is controlled by a computer 6. Further, the hot run coolers 3 between the quencher 2 and a winder 5 are controlled by commands from the computer 6 so that a winding temp. equals to prescribed value.
