Abstract

PURPOSE: To detect an effective leakage current directly by rectifying a total leakage current synchronously with the phase of a fed voltage, and removing ineffective components and detecting only the effective component.
CONSTITUTION: The total leakage current I0 due to floating capacitors 51 and 52 and leakage resistances 61 and 62. This current I0 is extracted by a zero- phase current transformer 4 and inputted to an effective leakage current detector 8 to detect the effective component of the current I0, i.e. difference current between currents Ir1 and Ir2 flowing through the resistances 61 and 62. Then the current I0 inputted from the current transformer 4 is amplified 801 and rectified 802 synchronously according to the secondary-side voltage phase of a step-down transformer 807. Then the output signal of the circuit 802 is made into a positive DC signal by an absolute value circuit 804 and inputted to a comparing circuit 805. Then the circuit 805 compares the input DC signal with a caution level and a warning level which are set previously by a setting operation device 806 and the circuit 805 outputs a warning signal when the level of the DC level signal is higher than the warning level or a caution signal when the level is higher than the caution level and lower than the warning level.
