Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable the easy recording of characters or the like at any positions on a recording paper or the like by constructing a thermal recording device such that a thermal recording head is disposed at a distal end of a pencil-like shaft unit. CONSTITUTION:Character information on different characters is read out of a memory 52 each time an operation signal of a switch 6 is supplied, and a display control signal for displaying a character related to the information on the basis of the information so read out is then supplied to a display driving circuit 54, thereby displaying a character currently so selected on a display 3. In a case where a character to be recorded on the display 3, a stem 1 is set such that a recording head 2 is located on a desired position on a recording paper 8.
