Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the corrosion of electrodes or wires made of metal, by packing a liquid crystal display by tight sealing in the atmosphere charged with inert gas after removal of air and moisture. CONSTITUTION:A liquid crystal display 3 is contained in a container 8 with a lid 9 which is formed by plastic materials. An inherent resistance of the surface is less 10<12>OMEGA. The liquid crystal display 3 and the container 8 are contained in a bag 10 having a less inherent resistance of the surface than 10<12>. After moisture and air within the bag are removed in a vacuum packer body 14 and the bag is charged with an inert gas N2 11, the bag 10 is sealed by a heater 12. The liquid crystal display can be fixed in the bag 10 by the control of the Na gas 11 charging volume. Further as an electrode 5 is covered by the lid 9, the electrode 5 does not make contact with the bag 10. Therefore, any dirt will not be generated on the electrode.

Problems to be Solved by the Invention A liquid crystal display device 3 is shown in FIGS. 6 and 7, but a part of the electrode 6 for supplying voltage or video signals or a part of the wiring 6 connected thereto is made of metal. Although the electrical resistance of the wiring is lower than that of a liquid crystal display device 3 formed using only transparent electrodes, the electrodes 5 or the wiring 6 made of metal may be corroded by external moisture. This may lead to wire breakage.

Further, in FIG. 8, static electricity is generated due to friction between the polarizing plate 7 attached to both sides of the liquid crystal display device 3 and the cushion material 1, which deteriorates the electrical characteristics of the switching element provided for each picture element. Furthermore, the electrode 6 of the liquid crystal display device 3
This causes problems such as contact between the electrode 5 and the cushioning material 1, causing dirt to adhere to the electrode 5, which must be removed before wiring connection (mounting) for supplying voltage and video signals later.

After removing the air, N2 is added as an inert gas into the bag 1o.
After filling the gas 11, the bag 1o is glued to the heater 12. By controlling the amount of N2 gas 11 filled in, it is possible to fix the liquid crystal display device 3 with the bag 1o in a state as shown in FIG. Further, since the electrode 5 is covered with the lid 9, the bag 1o does not come into contact with the electrode 6, so that the electrode 6 is not contaminated.
