Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve recording sensitivity by forming a heat absorptive film on the surface of a thermoplastic substrate on which grooves for decreasing reflectivity are formed and thermally deforming the parts irradiated with a light beam, thereby recording information.
CONSTITUTION: The heat absorptive film 5 consisting of a thin film of a BiTe system, etc., is formed on the surface of the substrate 10 which consists of polycarbonate, etc., and is formed with the grooves 3 in the data recording region and address pits 1 and wobble pits 2 on the outside of the data recording region. The laser beam 7 is projected by an objective lens 8 on the optical disk formed in such a manner to deform the grooves 3, by which recording pits 4 are formed. Since the thermal deformation temp. of the substrate 10 is about ≤140°C, the recording is executed at the increased reflectivity by the small light beam. The recording sensitivity is, therefore, improved without degrading the reliability and the dealing with the high-speed and high-density recording is possible.
