Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain practical and sufficient hue, tone reproducibility and dispersibility of the title toner by subjecting a quinacridone compd. classified into C.I. Pigment Red 122 (73915) and a binding resin to a prescribed treatment. CONSTITUTION:The toner is obtd. by mixing and dispersing 100pts.wt. of the binding resin and 40-400pts.wt. of a colorant composed of the quinacridone compd., followed by crushing the obtd. mixture to obtain crude milled powders having a mean particle size of 10-1,000mum, and then by mixing and dispersing 100pts.wt. of the binding resin having the same or different kind to said binding resin, and 4-20pts.wt. of the crude milled powders, followed by milling and classifying the obtd. mixture to obtain powders having a final mean particle size of 5-25mum. When the final particle size is less than 5mum, the electrostatic charge characteristic of the toner is deteriorated. When the final particle size exceeds 25mum, the mixed color property of the toner is reduced. Thus, the dispersing property of the colorant in the binding resin can be improved, even in case when the colorant having the low dispersibility is incorporated in the binding resin. The toner having the excellent characteristics can be obtd.
