Abstract

PURPOSE: To surely detect not only opaque and translucent foreign mattes but a transparent foreign matter by combining a device for inspecting the transparent foreign matter with a device for inspecting the opaque and translucent foreign matters, through an optical splitting means and an optical filter.
CONSTITUTION: A part of a light beam from a light source 4 passes through a filter 11, goes to a red color light beam and passes through a light diffusing plate 5, a bottle bottom 1A and a half mirror 10 and made incident on an image sensor 2. If a foreign matter consisting of opaque and translucent materials exists, an advance of the red color light beam is obstructed, and the image sensor 2 detects this foreign matter. In such a case, a part of the red color light beam emitted from the opening of a bottle 1 goes to an image sensor 2', but absorbed by a filter 12 which does not allow the red color light beam to pass through. A part of the light beam from the light source 4 is reflected by a specular surface 7A of a light reflecting mirror 7 of the outside of the light diffusing plate 5, made incident on the bottle bottom 1A from the diagonal lower part of the outside, and if a transparent foreign matter exists, the light beam which is reflected by its surface advances to the upper part, passes through the opening of the bottle 1, reflected by the half mirror 10, passes through a filter 12, reaches the image sensor 2' and the transparent foreign matter is detected.
