Description

The present invention relates to an absorbent body and an absorbent article including the same.

Patent Document 1 discloses an absorbent laminate that is ultra-thin, does not lose its shape after absorbing bodily fluids, and is capable of fully exerting its absorbing capacity. The laminate does not contain pulp fibers other than those in the nonwoven fabric, and two sheets of nonwoven fabric are bonded together by a network layer made of hot melt adhesive placed between the nonwoven fabrics, with powdered superabsorbent polymer (hereinafter also referred to as "SAP") adhered to the hot melt adhesive.

Patent Document 2 discloses an SAP sheet that includes a first sheet and a second sheet made of a fiber material, and an SAP layer containing SAP particles that is disposed between these sheets, in which a portion of the SAP particles become an adhesive portion that forms a closed space sandwiched between the first sheet and the second sheet, and the remainder of the SAP particles become a group of free SAP particles that are sealed in a free state relative to the first sheet and the second sheet within the closed space.

The absorbent laminate of Patent Document 1 is, so to speak, an absorbent made of a pulpless SAP sheet (highly absorbent sheet). Such pulpless SAP sheets can be made thin due to the high liquid absorption capacity of SAP, which can absorb several hundred times its own weight in liquid components. However, although SAP has a high liquid absorption capacity, its liquid absorption speed is slower than that of pulp. Therefore, when an SAP sheet is used in, for example, a disposable diaper, problems such as urine leakage before the SAP starts to absorb, and further gel blocking occurring, which deteriorates the absorbency after repeated use, arise, and therefore there is a problem that an additional layer made of airlaid or fluff pulp is required. Furthermore, even when layers made of these airlaid or fluff pulp are added, simply stacking them together causes problems such as leakage from the front, back, left and right, liquid returning from the surface due to the poor liquid absorption speed, and stickiness.

Patent Document 2 is also not effective against gel blocking during repeated absorption, and it is not easy to adjust the amount of SAP for each area. In addition, the adhesive layer that forms the closed space between the first and second sheets is prone to gel blocking, so the free SAP particles in the closed space may not be able to fully exert their absorption capacity.

The present invention aims to provide an absorbent body composed of a novel bag body that allows the superabsorbent polymer to be freely arranged according to the part and is less likely to cause SAP leakage or gel blocking, and an absorbent article that includes the absorbent body.

The absorbent body of this embodiment will be described below with reference to the drawings. Fig. 1(a) is a plan view showing a schematic configuration of SAP bag body 1, and Fig. 1(b) is a plan view showing a schematic configuration of SAP bag body 2, which is a modified version of SAP bag body 1. Figs. 2 to 4 are schematic views showing absorbents 15, 16, and 17 according to the first, second, and third embodiments (Figs. 2 and 3 are cross-sectional views, and Fig. 4 is a plan view). In this specification, bodily fluids refer to liquids discharged from the body to the outside, such as urine, blood, and water in loose stools.

<SAP袋体>
<SAP bag body>
In this specification, the bag includes a bag body made of a hydrophilic nonwoven fabric and a highly absorbent polymer sealed inside the bag body. The bag of this embodiment is also called an SAP bag. The bag body is also called an SAP bag body.
1(a) includes an SAP bag body 10 having a substantially rectangular planar shape, and particulate superabsorbent polymer 12 sealed inside the SAP bag body 10. The SAP bag 1 can be produced, for example, by folding an edge of a substantially rectangular hydrophilic nonwoven fabric in half in the width (short side) direction, overlapping the edges, filling the inside with superabsorbent polymer 12, bonding a region of a predetermined width from the overlapped edges to form a seal layer 11, and sealing the superabsorbent polymer 12 inside. The seal layer 11 can be formed, for example, by heat sealing, ultrasonic welding, bonding using a hot melt adhesive, or the like.

As shown in FIG. 1(a), the SAP bag 1 has a long side dimension a in the range of 30 mm to 110 mm or in the range of 30 mm to 70 mm, and a short side dimension b in the range of 9 mm to 20 mm or in the range of 9 mm to 15 mm. The thickness of the SAP bag 1 is not particularly limited, but is, for example, in the range of 1.0 mm to 2.5 mm from the viewpoint of making the dimensions a and b significantly smaller than conventional absorbents as described above.

If dimension a is less than 30 mm and/or dimension b is less than 9 mm, the amount of superabsorbent polymer 12 that can be sealed in the bag body 10 decreases, and it becomes necessary to use a large number of SAP bags 1 to ensure the desired amount of body fluid absorption, which tends to impair the advantages obtained by making the SAP bag 1 smaller. If dimension a exceeds 110 mm and/or dimension b exceeds 20 mm, the amount of superabsorbent polymer 12 sealed in one SAP bag 1 increases, which tends to cause localized gel blocking in the absorbent or absorbent article, which tends to reduce the amount of body fluid absorbed and the rate of body fluid absorption when body fluid is repeatedly absorbed.

As described above, the SAP bag 1 is configured to function as an absorbent body of an absorbent article by sealing the superabsorbent polymer 12 in a very small bag body 10 made of hydrophilic nonwoven fabric, without including flap pulp, being ultra-small, thin, lightweight, and capable of absorbing body fluids from all directions. The SAP bag 1 does not leak SAP before use, is ultra-small, and exists independently, so it may be placed in any layer or position in the absorbent article, and can be freely placed in any position in the absorbent body of the absorbent article without being restricted by conventional layer structures or vertical and horizontal arrangements. In addition, by using the SAP bag 1, a delicate slit structure (for example, a fine slit structure) or a three-dimensional structure can be realized in the absorbent body. In addition, since the SAP bag 1 can absorb body fluids from all directions, it can be used in any direction. Furthermore, the SAP bag 1 retains its flexibility even after absorbing body fluids, and has the advantage of maintaining a high level of comfort when worn by the absorbent body and the absorbent article.

The hydrophilic nonwoven fabric constituting the bag body 10 is not particularly limited, and examples thereof include air-through nonwoven fabric, thermal bond nonwoven fabric, spunlace nonwoven fabric, spunbond nonwoven fabric, pulp-containing nonwoven fabric, etc. These nonwoven fabrics are composed of one or more types of fibers made of synthetic resins such as polypropylene, polyethylene, and polyester, regenerated fibers such as rayon, and natural fibers such as cotton. Among these, air-through nonwoven fabric, pulp-containing nonwoven fabric, etc. are preferred from the viewpoints of bodily fluid absorbency, strength, flexibility, moldability, etc.

Pulp-containing nonwoven fabrics are fabrics in which a pulp fiber web is laminated on at least one surface of a nonwoven fabric, as disclosed in, for example, U.S. Patent No. 5,284,703. For example, the fibers constituting the nonwoven fabric and the pulp fibers are entangled on one surface of the nonwoven fabric to form a pulp fiber web, and some of the pulp fibers penetrate the nonwoven fabric in the thickness direction and are exposed on the other surface, so that the nonwoven fabric and the pulp fiber web are extremely strongly bonded and integrated. Here, "integration" means that the nonwoven fabric and the pulp fiber web do not peel off to such an extent that the function of the pulp-containing nonwoven fabric is reduced until the absorbent article is used up. The above-mentioned pulp-containing nonwoven fabric can be manufactured, for example, by spraying pulp fibers onto the nonwoven fabric using a water flow entanglement method.

The nonwoven fabric in the pulp-containing nonwoven fabric is not particularly limited, but is preferably a spunbonded nonwoven fabric, more preferably a spunbonded nonwoven fabric containing polypropylene fibers, and even more preferably a spunbonded nonwoven fabric made of polypropylene fibers. The basis weight of the nonwoven fabric is in the range of 7 g/m 2 to 30 g/m 2 , and the basis weight of the pulp fiber web is, for example, in the range of 30 g/m 2 to 50 g/m 2. From the viewpoint of strength, texture, etc., the basis weight of the pulp-containing nonwoven fabric is, for example, in the range of 40 g/m 2 to 60 g/m 2 or in the range of 40 g/m 2 to 50 g/m 2. In one embodiment, the pulp fiber web is configured to face the outside of the bag body 10, and the nonwoven fabric is configured to face the inside of the bag body 10. This configuration improves the liquid absorption of the bag body 10.

As the superabsorbent polymer 12 sealed in the bag body 10, any polymer capable of absorbing body fluids and preventing backflow can be used without any particular restrictions, and examples thereof include polyacrylates, polyaspartates, (starch-acrylic acid) graft copolymers, (acrylic acid-vinyl alcohol) copolymers, (isobutylene-maleic anhydride) copolymers, and saponified products thereof. Among these, polyacrylates are preferred from the viewpoint of the amount of body fluid absorbed per weight, and sodium polyacrylate is more preferred. SAP can be used alone or in combination of two or more types. As the superabsorbent polymer 12, various commercially available products can be used without any particular restrictions.

In one embodiment of the SAP pouch 1, the superabsorbent polymer 12 is sealed as is within the pouch body 10. In another embodiment of the SAP pouch 1, the superabsorbent polymer 12 is sealed within the pouch body 10 while being wrapped in a carrier sheet such as tissue, absorbent paper, or airlaid nonwoven fabric. In another embodiment, the superabsorbent polymer 12 may be fixed to the surface of the carrier sheet with double-sided tape, adhesive, or the like. It is also preferable that the superabsorbent polymer 12 is sealed within the pouch body 10 in particulate form. In this case, the particle size of the superabsorbent polymer 12 is not particularly limited, but is, for example, in the range of 50 μm to 600 μm as the median particle size.

The amount of superabsorbent polymer 12 enclosed per SAP bag 1 is in the range of 0.03 g to 0.3 g or 0.05 g to 0.15 g. If the amount of superabsorbent polymer 12 enclosed is within the above range, the superabsorbent polymer 12 will not swell significantly after absorbing body fluids, causing a rough feel, and there will be almost no increase in the thickness of the SAP bag 1. Therefore, the texture, wearing comfort, and fit of an absorbent article including the SAP bag 1 after absorbing body fluids can be improved.

If the amount of superabsorbent polymer 12 enclosed is less than 0.03 g, the amount of body fluid absorbed per superabsorbent polymer 12 decreases, and at least one of the advantages of the SAP bag 1 described above tends to be lost. If the amount of superabsorbent polymer 12 enclosed exceeds 0.3 g, localized gel blocking tends to occur more easily within the absorbent article or absorbent body, and the amount of body fluid absorbed and the absorption speed after repeated absorption of body fluids tend to decrease.

The SAP bag 2 shown in FIG. 1(b) is a modified version of the SAP bag 1. The SAP bag 2 has the same structure as the SAP bag 1, except that the sealing layer 11 is replaced by sealing layers 11 and non-sealing layers 13 that are alternately formed in the circumferential direction. The non-sealing layer 13 is a region where the hydrophilic nonwoven fabrics on both sides are not bonded, and the internal space of the SAP bag 2 communicates with the external space via the non-sealing layer 13. The circumferential width of the non-sealing layer 13 may be set to a range in which the superabsorbent polymer 12 inside does not leak out of the SAP bag 2. Since the SAP bags 1 and 2 are thin and folded in a substantially flat shape, the superabsorbent polymer 12 is unlikely to leak out even if multiple non-sealing layers 13 are present. By configuring the SAP bag 2 in this way, bodily fluids are introduced into the SAP bag 2 more uniformly from all directions, further reducing the possibility of gel blocking.

<吸収体>
<Absorbent>
Although Fig. 2 shows an absorbent body 15 of a first embodiment, Fig. 3 shows an absorbent body 16 of a second embodiment, and Fig. 4 shows an absorbent body 17 of a third embodiment, these may be used as structures other than the absorbent body in an absorbent article. For example, these may be disposed between the top sheet and the absorbent body, between the absorbent body and the back sheet, or between the absorbent body configured as two upper and lower layers. However, the absorbent bodies 15, 16, and 17 will be described here.

The SAP pouch 3 contained in the absorbers 15, 16, and 17 is very small compared to the absorbers in conventional absorbent articles, but the absorbers 15, 16, and 17 may have the same dimensions as the absorbers in conventional absorbent articles. The longitudinal and width dimensions of the absorbers 15, 16, and 17 are not particularly limited and can be appropriately selected from a wide range, but the longitudinal dimension is, for example, in the range of 300 mm to 550 mm, and the width dimension is, for example, in the range of 100 mm to 200 mm.

According to FIG. 2, the absorbent body 15 according to the first embodiment includes two hydrophilic nonwoven fabrics 21 facing each other, an absorbent substrate 22 housed between the two hydrophilic nonwoven fabrics 21, and a plurality of SAP pouches 3 irregularly arranged in the absorbent substrate 22.

Examples of the absorbent substrate 22 include flap pulp and opened acetate tow. The absorbent substrate 22 may contain SAP as necessary. Examples of the flap pulp include cotton-like defibrated materials such as wood pulp, synthetic fibers, and non-wood pulp such as synthetic resin fibers. Even when the absorbent substrate 22 contains flap pulp, the SAP bag body 3 that does not contain flap pulp is included as the main body fluid absorbent, and body fluid is mainly absorbed in the SAP bag body 3, so that the decrease in the softness and flexibility of the flap pulp that accompanies body fluid absorption is mitigated.

The SAP bag 3 is a bag body made of hydrophilic nonwoven fabric and has a substantially cylindrical shape in which SAP is enclosed. The SAP bag 3 may be deformed into a shape other than cylindrical in the absorbent 15. Here, the hydrophilic nonwoven fabric constituting the bag body of the SAP bag 3 and the two hydrophilic nonwoven fabrics 21 constituting the absorbent 15 may be of the same type or different types. In addition, although the hydrophilic nonwoven fabric 21 is used in this embodiment, this is not limited thereto, and other nonwoven fabrics, resin films, etc. having liquid permeability can be used. The dimensions of the SAP bag 3 are not particularly limited, but like the SAP bag 1, the length is in the range of 30 mm to 110 mm or 30 mm to 70 mm, and the width (diameter) is in the range of 9 mm to 20 mm or 9 mm to 15 mm. The amount of SAP enclosed per SAP bag 3 is appropriately selected taking into consideration factors such as ensuring sufficient space for SAP expansion, but is, for example, in the range of 0.03 g to 0.3 g or 0.05 g to 0.15 g.

By using a cylindrical bag body, the advantage that the SAP bags 1 and 2 can absorb body fluids from all directions is further enhanced. Furthermore, the SAP bag 3 itself is constructed to be very small and holds a relatively small amount of SAP, so that body fluids can be absorbed efficiently and gel blocking is highly unlikely to occur. In this embodiment, three or more mutually opposing hydrophilic nonwoven fabrics 21 can be used, and the SAP bag 3 and absorbent base material 22 can be inserted between each layer.

The absorbent 16 according to the second embodiment shown in FIG. 3 is a modified version of the absorbent 15, and has the same configuration and the same modifications as the absorbent 15, except that instead of the irregular arrangement of the SAP pouches 3, the SAP pouches 3 are arranged in a regular arrangement. In the absorbent 16, the SAP pouches 3 are arranged continuously in one direction. In this way, even if the adjacent SAP pouches 3 are arranged close to each other, the hydrophilic nonwoven fabric constituting the cylindrical pouch body is interposed between the superabsorbent polymers 12, and as described above, the amount of superabsorbent polymer 12 in each SAP pouch 3 is relatively small, so that the possibility of gel blocking occurring is extremely low, the absorption performance of the superabsorbent polymer 12 in each SAP pouch 3 can be maximized, and the absorption amount and absorption speed are unlikely to decrease even if repeated absorption is performed.

The absorbent body 17 according to the third embodiment shown in FIG. 4 has a flat shape, and is formed by wrapping and sealing the SAP pouch 3 and the absorbent base material 22 in a hydrophilic nonwoven fabric 21, and has dimensions similar to those of absorbents in conventional absorbent articles. In FIG. 4, the SAP pouch 3 inside the absorbent body 17 is shown by solid lines to clearly show the arrangement of the SAP pouch 3.

In the absorbent body 17 of this embodiment, multiple cylindrical SAP bags 3 are wrapped in a hydrophilic nonwoven fabric 21 and enclosed in the hydrophilic nonwoven fabric 21. As shown in FIG. 4, when the absorbent body 17 is divided into one side in the longitudinal direction, the central portion, and the other side, the SAP bags 3 are arranged such that, on one side of the longitudinal direction, three SAP bags 3 extend in the longitudinal direction and are arranged at approximately equal intervals parallel to the width direction, one SAP bag 3 is arranged to extend in the width direction in the central portion of the longitudinal direction, and on the other side of the longitudinal direction, three SAP bags 3 are arranged to spread radially from the central portion of the absorbent body 17 to the other end in the longitudinal direction. A part or all of each SAP bag 3 may be fixed to the hydrophilic nonwoven fabric 21 by, for example, adhesion, heat sealing, ultrasonic welding, sewing, or other methods. In this way, multiple SAP pouches 3 can be arranged taking into consideration factors such as the flow of bodily fluids within the absorbent body 17 and which areas of the absorbent body 17 face which parts of the wearer's body.

The planar shape of the absorbers 15, 16, and 17 is not particularly limited, and may be, for example, an hourglass shape, a substantially rectangular shape (rectangular shape), an I-shape, an oval shape, an ellipse shape, a rectangle with rounded corners, or the like. The absorbers 15, 16, and 17 may be used in two or more layers. The thickness of the absorbers 15, 16, and 17 is appropriately selected according to the type of body fluid to be absorbed, the shape and material of the absorbers 15, 16, and 17, and the like. In addition, from the viewpoint of the absorbency and retention of body fluids, the shape retention of the absorber 17, and the like, the entire absorbers 15 and 16 may be covered with a hydrophilic sheet or the like as necessary. Examples of hydrophilic sheets include tissue, absorbent paper, and hydrophilic nonwoven fabrics such as airlaid nonwoven fabrics. In addition, two or more types of SAP bags having different shapes may be used in one absorber.

<Absorbent Articles>
Fig. 5 is a plan view showing a schematic configuration of an absorbent article 50 of the present embodiment. Fig. 5 is a plan view of the absorbent article 50 as viewed from the side of the top sheet 25. The absorbent article 50 has the same configuration as a conventional absorbent article, except that it includes an absorbent body 17 according to the third embodiment as an absorbent body.

The absorbent article 50 is defined as follows in this specification. Wearing the absorbent article 50 refers to the state in which the absorbent article 50 is attached to the body, regardless of whether bodily fluids have been absorbed or not. The longitudinal direction of the absorbent article 50 is the direction indicated by the symbol Y in the figure that extends from the front to the back of the body via the wearer's crotch when the absorbent article 50 is worn, the width direction is the direction indicated by the symbol X in the figure that is perpendicular to the longitudinal direction, and the thickness direction is the direction in which the components of the absorbent article 50 are layered. The skin side and non-skin side are, respectively, the surface that contacts the wearer's skin and the surface that faces the skin, and the surface that contacts the wearer's clothing or faces the clothing, when the absorbent article 1 is worn.

The absorbent article 50 of this embodiment can be used as various absorbent articles for both babies and adults, and representative examples include light incontinence pads, urine absorption pads, pants-type paper diapers, tape-fastened paper diapers, etc. Various paper diapers as outerwear may be combined with the absorbent article 50 as innerwear. The longitudinal and width dimensions of the absorbent article 1 are not particularly limited, but are, for example, 100 mm or more and 800 mm or less, and 50 mm or more and 500 mm or less, respectively. By adjusting the dimensions of the absorbent article 1 to fall within the above ranges, absorbent articles for various uses can be obtained.

As shown in FIG. 5, the absorbent article 50 of this embodiment comprises a liquid-permeable top sheet 25 that is positioned relatively close to the skin when worn, a liquid-impermeable back sheet 30 that is positioned opposite the top sheet 25 and is positioned relatively close to the skin when worn, an absorbent body 17 that is positioned between the top sheet 25 and the back sheet 30, and a pair of three-dimensional gathers 40 that are provided on the skin side of the top sheet 25. The absorbent body 17 is sandwiched between the top sheet 25 and the back sheet 30, and body fluids such as urine are absorbed and retained in the absorbent body 17 through the top sheet 25. Leg gathers, waist gathers, side flaps, etc. can be provided as appropriate depending on the purpose and type of the absorbent article 1.

(Top sheet)
The top sheet 25 may be formed from a substrate having liquid permeability that allows bodily fluids to move to the absorbent 17, and is made of a material that is soft to the touch and does not irritate the skin, such as a nonwoven fabric such as a thermal bond nonwoven fabric, a spunbond nonwoven fabric, or a hydrophilic nonwoven fabric material such as a composite nonwoven fabric in which thermal bond/spunbond are laminated. In addition, the top sheet 25 may be embossed or perforated on the surface in order to improve liquid permeability. As a method for performing these embossing and perforation processes, any known method can be used without limitation. In addition, in order to reduce irritation to the skin, the top sheet 25 may contain lotion, an antioxidant, an anti-inflammatory component, a pH adjuster, an antibacterial agent, a moisturizing agent, or the like. Furthermore, in terms of strength and processability, the basis weight of the top sheet 25 is, for example, in the range of 18 g/m 2 to 40 g/m 2 . There are no particular limitations on the shape of the top sheet 25, provided that it has a shape that covers the absorbent body 17 and is necessary for guiding bodily fluids to the absorbent body 17 without leakage.

(Back seat)
The back sheet 30 can be made of a liquid-impermeable substrate, such as a breathable or non-breathable resin film, so that the body fluid held by the absorbent 17 does not wet the clothing. Examples of the resin film include resin films made of polyester, polyethylene, polypropylene, etc., and composite films of polyethylene and polypropylene. From the viewpoint of strength and processability, the basis weight of the back sheet 30 is, for example, in the range of 15 g/m 2 to 40 g/m 2. In order to prevent stuffiness when worn, it is preferable to use a breathable resin film as the back sheet 30. In order to impart breathability to the resin film, fillers may be added to the resin film, or the resin film may be embossed. Fillers such as calcium carbonate may be added to the resin film according to a known method.

(Absorber)
The absorbent 17 is disposed between the top sheet 25 and the back sheet 30. In this embodiment, the absorbent 17 is used, but instead of this, an absorbent including a plurality of SAP pouches having various shapes can be used without any particular limitation. The number of SAP pouches 3 is not particularly limited, but when the longitudinal dimension of the absorbent 17 is in the range of 300 mm to 550 mm and the width dimension is in the range of 100 mm to 200 mm, for example, the number is in the range of 5 to 100 or 10 to 50. Using this number as a guide, the number of SAP pouches 3 can be appropriately selected according to the increase or decrease in the longitudinal dimension and/or width dimension of the absorbent 17. Note that this number is not limited to the SAP pouches 3, but is a guide for the number of other SAP pouches in the absorbent.

(3D gathers)
The three-dimensional gathers 40 are arranged along the longitudinal direction such that one end is fixed to both ends in the width direction of the top sheet 25 or the back sheet 30, and the other end is a free end 40a above the top sheet 25. When one end is fixed to the back sheet 30, the middle part may be fixed to both ends in the width direction of the top sheet 25. Furthermore, one end may be fixed to the non-skin side of the back sheet 30. As the three-dimensional gathers 40, a water-repellent or liquid-impermeable sheet formed of hydrophobic fibers, such as a spunbonded nonwoven fabric, a melt-blown nonwoven fabric, or a polyethylene film, may be used, and a double-bonded sheet appropriately selected from these substrates may also be used. The basis weight of the three-dimensional gathers 40 is in the range of 15 g/m 2 to 100 g/m 2 from the viewpoint of processability and strength.

At least one elastic stretch member may be arranged along the longitudinal direction of the free end 40a of the three-dimensional gathers 40. This gives the free end 40a the ability to stand up, allowing it to deform to fit the wearer's body shape and improving the fit, effectively preventing leakage of urine and other bodily fluids. Examples of elastic stretch members that can be used include polyurethane threads, strip-shaped polyurethane films, and thread- or strip-shaped natural rubber.
