Description
本出願は、2016年4月24日に出願した特許仮出願および譲渡された米国特許出願第62/326,820号の優先権を主張するものであり、なお、それらの開示は、参照により本明細書に組み入れられる。
本開示の技術分野は、組成物、ならびに向上した溶融滴下性を有する布地を含む、火炎および火気防護を提供する方法に関する。
難燃性および溶融滴下の回避は、布地などの物品における2つの重要な特性である。難燃剤は、火気の延焼に抵抗する化学物質であり、例えば、熱可塑性プラスチック、繊維製品、およびコーティング剤などにおいて使用される。典型的には、難燃剤は、ハロゲン化(例えば、臭素化)されているか、またはリン酸塩ベースである。しかしながら、これらの難燃剤および防火材は、一般的に効率が悪いか、または環境に対して負の影響を有する。例えば、臭素化難燃剤のようなハロゲン化難燃剤などは、人および環境の両方に対して、持続的なバイオ蓄積性および毒性がある。臭素化難燃剤は、負の神経行動作用および内分泌撹乱を引き起こす疑いがある。臭素化難燃剤は、火気自体よりも多くの死亡の原因となり得る毒性ガスも放出する。

当該乾燥混合物を、二軸スクリュー押出機に供給し、230〜260℃の間において溶融処理した。押出しされたストランドを冷却しペレット化した。
全く修飾されていないナイロン6を2%の1,4−ブタンジオールジグリシジルエーテルと混合することによって、コントロール試料を調製した。
当該コントロール試料を、二軸スクリュー押出機に供給し、230〜260℃の間において溶融処理した。押出しされたストランドを冷却し、ペレット化した。
20g/分の溶融流動性を有するコントロールナイロンは、2%の1,4−ブタンジオールジグリシジルエーテルとの反応後に、0.7g/分の溶融流動性を有することが見出された。
不反応化されたナイロンは、2%の1,4−ブタンジオールジグリシジルエーテルとの混合および押出加工の前後において20g/分の溶融流動性を有することが見出された。
このことは、不反応化工程は、ナイロン6の分子量に影響せず、2%の1,4−ブタンジオールジグリシジルエーテルとの反応に対して、それを不活性にしただけであることを示していた。その一方で、コントロールナイロン6は、2%の1,4−ブタンジオールジグリシジルエーテルと押出加工されたときに架橋して、結果として非流動性のポリマーを生じた。
当該乾燥混合物(乾式ミックス)を、二軸スクリュー押出機に供給し、230〜260℃の間において溶融処理した。押出しされたストランドを冷却し、ペレット化した。

Claims (10)
- ナイロンである第一ポリマーを含む第一樹脂と;
安息香酸無水物、無水コハク酸、無水マレイン酸から選択される反応性成分であって、該ポリマーの0.1重量%から10重量%において存在し、架橋性分子である反応性成分と、
を含む組成物を用意し、
前記組成物は、火炎への暴露までは、前記第一ポリマーが前記選択された反応性成分によって、架橋性分子との反応に対して不活性にされており、
前記組成物は、火炎への暴露の際に、該第一ポリマーおよび該反応性成分が、架橋を形成し、
前記架橋を形成する際には、
該第一ポリマーが、火炎への暴露の際に、反応性末端を有する断片へと分裂するように構成されることにより、該反応性末端が、該反応性成分と反応して、分子量および粘度を高める網目構造相互貫入ポリマーを形成する、
ことを特徴とする方法。 - 前記第一ポリマーが、少なくとも1つの官能基を含み、該官能基はアミン基であり、該第一ポリマーの前記溶融温度を超える温度への暴露まで、該第一ポリマーが架橋性分子との反応に対して不活性となるように、該官能基が遮蔽(blocked)または不反応化(passivate)される、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記官能基を遮蔽(blocked)または不反応化(passivate)する成分が、前記第一ポリマーの末端基に対して相補的な官能基を有する単官能性分子である、請求項2に記載の方法。
- 前記成分と前記第一ポリマーとの間の反応が、共有結合を形成する、請求項3に記載の方法。
- 前記第一ポリマーは、火炎への暴露により鎖切断を受け、網目構造相互貫入ポリマーを形成するするように構成される、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記鎖切断が、反応性末端基を有する断片を生成し、該反応性末端基が、カプロラクトンおよびカプロラクタムからなる群より選択される、請求項5に記載の方法。
- 前記鎖切断が、反応性末端基を有する断片を生成し、該反応性末端基が、アミンおよびカルボキシルからなる群より選択される、請求項5に記載の方法。
- ナイロンである第一ポリマーを含む第一樹脂と;
安息香酸無水物、無水コハク酸、無水マレイン酸から選択される反応性成分であって、該ポリマーの0.1重量%から10重量%において存在し、架橋性分子である反応性成分と、
を含む組成物を用意し、
前記組成物から繊維を形成し、該繊維を織って布地を形成し、
前記布地を構成する組成物は、火炎への暴露までは、前記第一ポリマーが前記選択された反応性成分によって、架橋性分子との反応に対して不活性にされており、
前記布地を構成する前記組成物は、火炎への暴露の際に、該第一ポリマーおよび該反応性成分が、架橋を形成するように構成され、
前記架橋を形成する際には、
該第一ポリマーが、火炎への暴露の際に、反応性末端を有する断片へと分裂するように構成され、
それにより、該反応性末端が、該反応性成分と反応して、分子量および粘度を高める網目構造相互貫入ポリマーを形成する、
ことを特徴とする方法。 - 前記反応性成分とは別の架橋剤が、前記第一ポリマーを不反応化する工程の後に暴露される、請求項8に記載の方法。
- 前記第一ポリマーと、該第一ポリマーとは別のナイロンポリマーとが、不反応化する工程の後の押出加工の際に混合される、請求項9に記載の方法。
