Description
壁、天井、床、区切り、バスタブ周辺物などは、通常、多数の板(時に「パネル」と呼ばれる)から構成される。板は、例えば、セメント又は石膏のようなセメント資材を含む様々な資材のいずれかから成り立っていても良いが、これらに限定されるわけではない。典型的には、使用時に2枚の板が互いに隣接する場合、ジョイントと呼ばれる隙間又は合わせ目が、板の間に規定される。「ジョイントコンパウンド」と呼ばれる特別に調製された粘着剤でジョイントを充填して、コーティングすることは、周知である。2つのタイプのジョイントコンパウンドが、当業者に公知である:硬化タイプ及び乾燥タイプであり、これは調合済みの形態にて入手可能である。この工程は、でこぼこの表面、穴、くぼみ、隙間、へこみ、並びに、電気箱、パイプ及び排気装置の周囲を含む他の欠陥、並びにドライウォール板の交線によって作られる角のような欠点を修復するためにも使用される。
本発明は、板(例えば、ドライウォール、セメント板など)の間のジョイントを仕上げるための、水存在下にて有意に膨張せず、かつ、適用している間の裂け及びひび割れに耐性のある十分な強度を有する不織布基材を含む、ジョイントテープを提供する。1つの実施態様において、ジョイントテープは、天然パルプ繊維、合成ポリマー繊維、グラスファイバー、およびそれらの組み合わせからなる群から選択される繊維を含む不織布基材を含み、ここで、不織布基材は、好ましくは、ASTM C474−05に従って決定すると、以下を有する:
・約1.3%未満の横方向パーセント伸張;
・約0.2%未満の縦方向パーセント伸張;及び
・横方向に、1インチあたり少なくとも約15ポンドフォースの引張強度。
本発明は、ジョイントテープ、板の間のジョイントを仕上げる方法、及び広くセメント資材の補強に関する。本明細書にて使用する場合、板のジョイントの仕上げとは、板の集合体を作りだすために、板の間のジョイントにテープ及びジョイントコンパウンドを適用することを指しており、仕上げ後に、この集合体は、塗料、壁紙、タイル、パネルなどを適用することによってさらに、処置されうる。本発明のジョイントテープは、壁、天井、床、区切り、バスタブ周辺物、縦型及び横型シャフト壁、階段吹き抜け、領域分離用壁などを形成する際に使用される板と一緒に使用されうる。例えば、本発明のジョイントテープは、United States Gypsum Companyから商業的に入手可能な、SHEETROCK(登録商標)ドライウォール製品及びDUROCK(登録商標)セメント板製品、並びに競合する製品などと一緒に使用されうる。板は、例えば、セメント又は石膏のような、セメント資材を含む、様々な資材のいずれから構成されていてもよいが、これらに限定されるわけではない。用語「ドライウォール」は、例示的に使用されているが、当業者が理解するように、壁板、繊維板、ガラス表面の石膏ボード、セメント板、などの様々な製品を含む。用語「テープ」は、例えば、巻いた形態にて提供されうる細長い資材を意味し、粘着裏地層を含んでいても含んでいなくてもよくて、並びに、望ましくは、ASTM C474−05及びC475に示されている基準を満たす。
この実施例は、本発明に従った膨張不能なジョイントテープが、従来の紙製ジョイントテープに匹敵する、引張強度及びジョイントコンパウンドへの接着性を有していることを、例示する。

天然パルプ繊維、合成ポリマー繊維、グラスファイバー、およびそれらの組み合わせからなる群から選択される繊維を含む不織布基材を含み、該不織布基材は、ASTM C474−05に従って決定したとき、以下を有する、ジョイントテープ:
・約1.3%未満の横方向パーセント伸張;
・約0.2%未満の縦方向パーセント伸張;及び

前記繊維がポリエステル繊維を含む、付記1に記載のジョイントテープ。

前記繊維が天然パルプ繊維を含み、かつ、該天然パルプ繊維が、木材パルプ繊維である、付記1に記載のジョイントテープ。
[付記7]
前記不織布基材が結合剤を含む、付記1に記載のジョイントテープ。
[付記8]
前記結合剤が、ポリビニルアルコール、ポリ酢酸ビニル、ポリエチレン酢酸ビニル、ポリ塩化ビニル、デンプン、架橋デンプン、及びそれらの組み合わせからなる群から選択される、付記7に記載のジョイントテープ。
[付記9]
前記結合剤が、架橋デンプン、又は、架橋デンプン及びポリビニルアルコールの組み合わせである、付記7に記載のジョイントテープ。
[付記10]
前記不織布基材が、少なくとも部分的に、接着増強剤でコーティングされる、付記1に記載のジョイントテープ。
[付記11]
前記接着増強剤が、酢酸ビニル、ビニルアルコール、塩化ビニル、アクリル酸、酢酸エチルビニル、及びエチル塩化ビニルから形成されるポリマー、デンプン、並びにそれらの組み合わせからなる群から選択される、付記10に記載のジョイントテープ。
[付記12]
前記接着増強剤が、ポリ酢酸ビニル、ポリビニルアルコール又はそれらの組み合わせである、付記10に記載のジョイントテープ。
[付記13]
前記不織布基材の少なくとも裏面上に粘着剤をさらに含む、付記1に記載のジョイントテープ。
[付記14]
前記不織布基材が、該不織布基材の総重量に基づいて、少なくとも約30重量%以上の合成ポリマー繊維を含む、付記1に記載のジョイントテープ。
[付記15]
前記不織布基材が、約1重量%未満の天然パルプ繊維を含む、付記1に記載のジョイントテープ。
[付記16]
以下を含む、板の間のジョイントを仕上げる方法:
(i)天然パルプ繊維、合成ポリマー繊維、グラスファイバー、及びそれらの組み合わせからなる群から選択される繊維を含む不織布基材を含むジョイントテープを、ジョイントコンパウンドの1番目のコーティングの中に、少なくとも部分的に該ジョイントテープを埋め込むことにより、板の間の該ジョイントに適用するステップ(ここで、該不織布基材は、ASTM C474−05に従って決定したとき、約1.3%未満の横方向パーセント伸張;約0.2%未満の縦方向パーセント伸張;及び、横方向に、1インチあたり少なくとも約15ポンドフォースの引張強度を有する);及び
(ii)該テープ上に、ジョイントコンパウンドの2番目のコーティングを適用するステップ(ここで、ステップ(ii)は、(i)にて適用されたジョイントコンパウンドの該1番目のコーティングが実質的に乾燥する前に行われる)。

前記不織布基材が、該不織布基材の少なくとも裏面上に粘着剤をさらに含む、付記16に記載の方法。

(iii)前記テープ上に、ジョイントコンパウンドの3番目のコーティングを適用するステップ(ここで、ステップ(iii)は、前記2番目のコーティングが実質的に乾燥する前に行われる)をさらに含む、付記16に記載の方法。

前記板が、ドライウォール板及びセメント板からなる群から選択される、付記16に記載の方法。

以下を含む、板の間のジョイントを仕上げる方法:
(i)天然パルプ繊維、合成ポリマー繊維、グラスファイバー、及びそれらの組み合わせからなる群から選択される繊維を含む不織布基材、並びに該不織布基材の少なくとも裏面上の粘着剤を含むジョイントテープを、該粘着剤を使用して板の間の該ジョイントに適用するステップ(ここで、該不織布基材は、ASTM C474−05に従って決定したとき、約1.3%未満の横方向パーセント伸張;約0.2%未満の縦方向パーセント伸張;及び、横方向に、1インチあたり少なくとも約15ポンドフォースの引張強度を有する);及び
(ii)該テープ上に、ジョイントコンパウンドの1番目のコーティングを適用するステップ、及び
(iii)該テープ上に、ジョイントコンパウンドの2番目のコーティングを適用するステップ、
(ここで、ステップ(iii)は、(ii)にて適用されたジョイントコンパウンドの該1番目のコーティングが実質的に乾燥する前に行われる)。
Claims (9)
- 天然パルプ繊維、合成ポリマー繊維、及び0重量%以上且つ50重量%未満のグラスファイバーを含む不織布基材を含み、該不織布基材は、ASTM C474−05に従って決定したとき、以下の(a)乃至(c)を満たし、かつ、前記不織布基材の流体浸透性は、TAPPI T−460に従って空気抵抗として測定すると、6秒以下であり、約0.305mm(約0.012インチ)以下の厚みを有する、ジョイントテープ:
(a)1.3%未満の横方向パーセント伸張;
(b)0.2%未満の縦方向パーセント伸張;及び
(c)横方向に、1インチあたり少なくとも15ポンドフォースの引張強度。 - 前記不織布基材が、ASTM C474−05に従って決定したとき、以下を有する、請求項1に記載のジョイントテープ:
(a)0.8%未満の横方向パーセント伸張;
(b)0.1%未満の縦方向パーセント伸張;及び
(c)横方向に、1インチあたり少なくとも20ポンドフォースの引張強度。 - 前記合成ポリマー繊維が、ポリエステル、ポリエチレン、ポリプロピレン、ナイロン、ポリアセテート、ポリアクリル、ポリスチレン、ポリ酢酸ビニル、レーヨン、ポリ塩化ビニル、これらのコポリマー及びこれらの組み合わせからなる群から選択される、請求項1又は2に記載のジョイントテープ。
- 前記不織布基材が結合剤を含む、請求項1から3のいずれかに記載のジョイントテープ。
- 前記結合剤が、ポリビニルアルコール、ポリ酢酸ビニル、ポリエチレン酢酸ビニル、ポリ塩化ビニル、デンプン、架橋デンプン、及びそれらの組み合わせからなる群から選択される、請求項4に記載のジョイントテープ。
- 前記不織布基材が、少なくとも部分的に、接着増強剤でコーティングされる、請求項1から5のいずれかに記載のジョイントテープ。
- 前記接着増強剤が、酢酸ビニル、ビニルアルコール、塩化ビニル、アクリル酸、酢酸エチルビニル、及びエチル塩化ビニルから形成されるポリマー、デンプン、並びにそれらの組み合わせからなる群から選択される、請求項6に記載のジョイントテープ。
- 前記天然パルプ繊維が、木材パルプ繊維である、請求項1から7のいずれかに記載のジョイントテープ。
- 以下を含む、板の間のジョイントを仕上げる方法:
(i)不織布基材を含むジョイントテープを、ジョイントコンパウンドの1番目のコーティングの中に、少なくとも部分的に該ジョイントテープを埋め込むことにより、板の間の該ジョイントに適用するステップ;及び
(ii)該テープ上に、ジョイントコンパウンドの2番目のコーティングを適用するステップ;
前記ステップ(i)において、前記不織布基材は、天然パルプ繊維、合成ポリマー繊維、及び0重量%以上且つ50重量%未満のグラスファイバーを含み、ASTM C474−05に従って決定したとき、1.3%未満の横方向パーセント伸張、0.2%未満の縦方向パーセント伸張、及び、横方向に、1インチあたり少なくとも15ポンドフォースの引張強度を有し、かつ、前記不織布基材の流体浸透性は、TAPPI T−460に従って空気抵抗として測定すると、6秒以下であり、約0.305mm(約0.012インチ)以下の厚みを有し、
前記ステップ(ii)は、前記ステップ(i)にて適用されたジョイントコンパウンドの前記1番目のコーティングが実質的に乾燥する前に行われ、
ここで該方法は、
(iii)前記テープ上に、ジョイントコンパウンドの3番目のコーティングを適用するステップ、を含んでいてもよく、
前記ステップ(iii)は、前記2番目のコーティングが実質的に乾燥する前に行われ、
前記不織布基材は、該不織布基材の少なくとも裏面上に粘着剤を含んでいてもよい、方法。
