Claims (4)
- 互いに対向配置された対をなす四角形状の基板と、
これら基板間に介在された液晶層と、
前記基板の外縁角部から離間された位置に屈曲するコーナー部を備え、前記液晶層の周囲を四角形状に囲んで前記基板を貼り合わせるシール部と、
前記液晶層の位置で前記基板間に介在され、これら基板間の間隙を保持する主間隙保持部材と、
前記基板のいずれか一方の外縁に互いに直交するように直線状に形成された4つの辺部を備えた四角形枠状で、前記基板間に介在され、前記基板間の間隙を保持する外縁間隙保持部材と、
前記基板の外縁角部にて前記シール部の前記コーナー部の外側部と前記外縁間隙保持部材との間を埋めるように前記基板間に介在され、これら基板間の間隙を保持する補助間隙保持部材と
を具備したことを特徴とする液晶表示素子。 - 前記補助間隙保持部材は、前記主間隙保持部材よりも配置密度が大きい
ことを特徴とする請求項1記載の液晶表示素子。 - 互いに対向配置された対をなす四角形状の基板と、これら基板間に介在された液晶層と、前記基板の外縁角部から離間された位置に屈曲するコーナー部を備え、前記液晶層の周囲を囲んで前記基板を貼り合わせるシール部と、前記液晶層の位置で前記基板間に介在され、これら基板間の間隙を保持する主間隙保持部材と、前記基板のいずれか一方の外縁に互いに直交するように直線状に形成された4つの辺部を備えた四角形枠状で、前記基板間に介在され、前記基板間の間隙を保持する外縁間隙保持部材と、前記基板の外縁角部にて前記シール部の前記コーナー部の外側部と前記外縁間隙保持部材との間を埋めるように前記基板間に介在され、これら基板間の間隙を保持する補助間隙保持部材とを具備した液晶表示素子の製造方法であって、
前記主間隙保持部材、前記外縁間隙保持部材及び前記補助間隙保持部材を、前記各基板をなす各大判基板の少なくともいずれか一方に配置し、
前記シール部をなす流体状のシール部材を、少なくとも前記コーナー部の外側部が前記補助間隙保持部材と接触可能な位置にて前記大判基板のいずれか一方に塗布し、
このシール部材の内方に前記液晶層をなす液晶材料を滴下し、
この液晶材料を滴下した前記大判基板と他方の前記大判基板とを、前記シール部材を介して真空中で貼り合わせ、
これら貼り合わせた大判基板を大気開放し、
前記シール部材を硬化させて前記シール部を形成する
ことを特徴とする液晶表示素子の製造方法。 - 前記補助間隙保持部材の配置密度を、前記主間隙保持部材の配置密度よりも大きくする
ことを特徴とする請求項3記載の液晶表示素子の製造方法。
